Nagaland: 40 new COVID-19 cases

40 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Nagaland on July 16, taking the State’s tally to 956.


Nagaland State Health and Family Welfare Minister, Pangnyu Phom informed that out of the 40 fresh cases, 39 were from Dimapur and I was from Peren.  The Minister also informed that 14 COVID-19 patients have recovered in Peren. They will be kept under strict surveillance, he added. 


As of July 17, the total recovery was 405 and the total number of active cases was 551. 


Dimapur now has the most number of active cases with 216, followed by Kohima with 106, Peren with 97, Mon with 83, Tuensang with 28, Phek with 8, Mokokchung with 5, Longleng and Zunheboto with 2, each, and Wokha with 1.  


Meanwhile, the Chief Medical Officer of Peren informed on July 17 that one security personnel has tested positive for COVID-19. A report from the DIPR, quoting the CMO Peren, said that contact tracing has been activated and active surveillance is being undertaken.


Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha, during the daily briefing informed that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated COVID-19 Hospitals and COVID-19 Care Centres. 


A total of 2,922 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine, he added.
