Kohima, August 23 (MExN): Er Kropol Vitsu, Advisor for Prisons, Printing & Stationery, Nagaland, conducted an on-site inspection of the NH-2 alternate road from Zero Point, Kezoma to Kidima village on August 22.

The Advisor was accompanied by technical officials from the NPWD (R&B, South Division) and the Executive Assistant Commissioner of the Kezocha Sub-Division.

During the inspection, Advisor Vitsu observed that the road, originally designed for Light Motor Vehicles, is now being used as an alternate route for heavy vehicles bound for Manipur. This has resulted in “significant damage,” with large portions rendered “unsafe and impassable for smaller vehicles due to deep potholes and severe surface erosion.”

Expressing deep concern, Er Kropol stated that the vital interstate lifeline has become a “daily ordeal” for local residents. He issued an urgent appeal to concerned authorities to immediately intervene and undertake necessary restoration works.

He has made a sincere and urgent appeal to the concerned authorities to immediately intervene to undertake necessary restoration works. “Timely action is critical not only for safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of indigenous communities but also for ensuring uninterrupted connectivity to the neighbouring state of Manipur,” he said.

The Advisor reiterated that the road’s condition demands prioritization and addressing the issue without further delay.
