Four villages in Kiphire district held a jointly celebrated Ahuna festival at Kiyezhe village with S Kakuto Chophy, Project Implementing Team FOCUS-IFAD, Nagaland, as chief guest on November 14.

Speaking on the occasion, S Kakuto Chophy shared on the significance of the festival and asked the gathering to imbibe hope and oneness in their personal lives and the society.

Sharing on the importance of agriculture the chief guest also said, if we have food security, there would be security, peace and happiness in life. As such, he asked the gathering to give due importance to agriculture.

Chophy also called upon the gathering to live in harmony with their neighbours and also extend a helping hand whenever possible. He further asked the gathering to share the harvest with the needy so that the blessings from above will be with them always. 

Earlier in his welcome address, Shoto Yeptho expressed gratitude to the guests for joining the celebration with the four village union. He also said the celebration is a commemoration of the blessings of the almighty in the form of a bountiful harvest.

Folk songs, traditional games, storytelling and folk dances were the highlights of the day.
