Another rockslide occurred on the National Highway-29 between Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge) and Kukidolong stretch affecting vehicular movements on October 10.
The slide occurred at the now-damaged Nagaland 'Welcome Gate' late Saturday afternoon between 4-5 PM. The 'Welcome Gate' to the hill section of Nagaland was earlier damaged by a rockslide.
Excavators were seen clearing the debris and later one-way traffic was restored.
Traffic police told The Morung Express that a large rock dislodged off the cliff in the late afternoon almost blocking the highway. It was informed that the gigantic rock landed on the road blocking half of the carriageway, forcing the enforcement of single lane vehicular movement on that stretch.
It resulted in a long line of vehicles moving at a snail's pace at opposite ends.
Currently in the midst of a width expansion for the four-lanning of NH 29 Dimapur-Kohima sector, rockslides have been regularly occurring between the Chathe River Bridge (Patkai Bridge)-Kukidolong stretch.
