Nagaland awarded for RSBY enlistment

Nagaland is awarded by Government of India for Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) for securing the highest enrollment percentage in the country. 

Currently, a national workshop on Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana, a national health insurance scheme for unorganized workers (with special reference to BPL families) is on in Chandigarh for two days (July 2-3). 

Nagaland State has been awarded the award for securing the Highest Enrollment Percentage in the country. “We have been able to reach 80% which no other state has achieved (i.e. giving out RSBY Smart Cards to the beneficiaries). It may also be mentioned that already about 3000 beneficiaries have availed free access to health through the empanelled hospitals in our state amounting to Rs. One Crore Seventy Three Lakhs,” said Yanger Aier, project officer, Directorate of Labour. The officer is currently in Chandigarh.

The department of Labour is implementing the scheme through New India Assurance Co. Ltd. as the insurance company. The scheme has been extended to four districts Kohima, Peren, Phek and Mokokchung. The department will be covering the entire state during the current financial year 2010 - 2011.

During the previous National Workshop on October 28-29, 2009 at Theruvananthapuram, Kerala, Yanger Aier was awarded with the individual’s award in the programme implementation of RSBY in the country. From the North East region, the Nagaland government was also awarded the best performing state.
