Nagaland: Chavang Kut festival greetings 

Kohima, October 31 (MExN): The Governor of Assam and Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has conveyed wishes to Kuki, Chin and Mizo communities and to all the people of Nagaland on the occasion of Chavang Kut festival.

It is a thanksgiving festival for a bountiful harvest; it also celebrates peace and unity. The young and old are involved in traditional dances, songs and games which is a good way to preserve our rich cultural heritage.

“The celebration of the festival by communities, cutting across boundaries, brings people together and fosters friendship and unity which in turn leads to progress. On this auspicious occasion, may God bless you all with good health, peace and prosperity!” the Governor stated. 

The Kuki Inpi Nagaland has extended Kut Chibai and its greetings to all Kutters on the occasion of Chavang Kut, a post harvest festival of the Kukis. Furthermore, KIN expressed sincere appreciation to the Government of Nagaland for acknowledging and recognising it as one of the Restricted Holidays of the state. “KIN hopes and prays that Kut brings the spirit of oneness, unity and closer to one another,” Kuki Inpi Nagaland stated in a press release. 

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton greeted the Kuki community on the occasion of Chavang Kut. Patton in a press note said that the Kukis are a distinct race scattered in different parts of North East India and still maintain their unique cultural traditions. Festivals happen to be one among such trait. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM conveyed festive greetings and hope that it will bring unity and prosperity. 

The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) has extended Chavang Kut festival greetings of the Kukis. It stated in a press release that Chavang Kut is a post-harvest festival to offer thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. People of all ages, young or old are involved in numerous activities including traditional dances, songs and games. “May this festival continue to bring people together and foster friendship and unity, and we also pray that God bless all with good health, peace and prosperity,” it added. 

Chaga Gadi and Langsimnyi greetings

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton has greeted the Liangmai and Zeliang community on the occasion of Chaga Gadi and Langsimnyi. 

In a message issued through the Dy CMO’s Media Cell, Patton said that the festivals are celebrated in forgiveness and reconciliation and also an exhibition of thanksgiving to the Creator for the bumper harvests. 

On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the DyCM conveyed heartiest festive greetings and expressed hope that it would be celebrated with grandeur.
