Nagaland CM announces construction of 20,000 seating capacity indoor stadium in Tsiesema

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today announced that the state government is contemplating to construct 20,000 seating capacity Indoor Stadium at Tsiesema in Kohima district.

Rio said that this will facilitate a huge crowd puller sports event like Naga wrestling, which is gaining popularity in the state.

Announcing this during the golden jubilee celebration of Tsiesema Village Youth & Sports Association (TVYSA), Rio said the government will soon start the process of searching a suitable site for such mega project.

He also announced that the government would also construct indoor stadium at Noklak and Tuensang.

By next year (2022), the government would also focus on establishing Shooting & Archery Academy as well as Motor & Adventure Sports Academy in the state, Rio said.

Rio assured that the government will make every possible effort to put proper sports infrastructure in place for the Naga youth to expose their talents and excel in the field of games and sports. 

He said that unity and peaceful environment is the need of the hour for Naga society to flourish in every fields. In this, Rio called upon the people of the state to have a feeling of oneness and work in unison to secure ‘real peace’ in Nagaland.

Earlier, the inaugural function was chaired by Golden Jubilee organizing committee convenor Mhalelhou Mere while TVYSA president Kezevilhou Khro delivered presidential address. Tsiesema Village Council chairman Khrielezo Khro shared greetings.

Golden Jubilee organizing Committee co-convenor Ketholetuo Chietsii administered oath to six participating teams – Mere, Pepfu, Khrabvii, Chietsii, Yhor and Khro. Six teams will compete in track and field event, football, Naga wrestling and volleyball.

The golden jubilee celebration will continue till December 31. Mulunuyi Nyekha, chairman, Chesezumi Village Council will be the guest of honour at the valedictory function.
