Kohima, December 16 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio launched the online ILP module portal at the Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima on December 16.
Giving his remark, the CM stated that the module for online issue of ILPs for tourists was made operational in November 2019. He said the new module will cover other categories such as businessmen, traders, labourers, priests, students and expand online services. He added that it is part of the Government’s effort for making public services available in a more efficient and user-friendly manner, stated a DIPR report.
The CM said that ILP is a tool to protect the indigenous people of Nagaland and is enforced under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873 and was also agreed as part of the 16-point agreement that led to the formation of the State. Similar provisions are also available in Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram and Manipur. He added that with strict timelines and monitoring, it should be possible to see that the approval process is not abused and the ILP applicants are also happy.
“Online ILP would enable authorities to capture all data of visitors to the State, analyse it and help in planning better for various facilities,” the CM stated and advocated more government services online so that the public can avail services through their computers, mobile devices or through Computer Service Centers. He also stated that websites should not be only tools for providing information but should provide services online within a short time limit.
Briefing on the online ILP module, Principal Secretary, Abhijit Sinha IAS said that with the new module, all categories of visitors can now apply online for permits at the comfort of their homes and added that payment for applications can be made online for all categories. Sinha informed that offline mode will continue for some time and the Government will take a final call on it later.
Advisor, IT&C, S&T, N&RE, Mmhonlumo Kikon informed that till date, a total of 17,786 online ILP applications have been received. He said that the new module is easy to use and it can be accessed by everyone. Kikon stated that with new module in place, the State will be able to check the outflow and inflow of visitors to the State.
