Nagaland Congress to crusade against ‘unfaithful’ state govt

Dimapur, September 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has announced that it would launch a ‘crusade’ against what it called ‘unfaithful government’ in the state.

The ‘crusade,’ led by NPCC president K Therie, will begin in Dimapur on September 24 and will subsequently be taken to all districts of the state, the NPCC communication department said in a statement on Monday. “We no longer have hope on the government to resolve the political issue unless we change it,” it added.

The NPCC stated that it intends to voice the aspirations of the public and share the pains and fears that the demography of Nagaland may change in due course of time.

“We also fear that multiple governance will ultimately bring famine, increase goons, robberies and destroy the moral code,” it said, painting a picture of disparity between the ‘haves and have-nots’ if the state were to ‘continue with corruption.’

Stating that the people of the state are now considered a ‘purchasable commodity’ by the government of the day, the NPCC opined that the people have “lost the courage to stand for noble cause, ethnic values and credentials.”

It also feared the faith of the Naga people is under threat. “We are slowly moving away from Christianity. Many believers do not practice Christianity anymore. They are free to worship idols and follow rituals that are against our religious beliefs,” the release stated.

Further, the NPCC appealed for donation from the people to support the crusade as it does not have funds to bear the crusade expenses.
