Nagaland COVID-19 update
711 samples test negative, results for 13 awaited
Kohima, May 5 (MExN): 724 samples have been sent for COVID-19 testing from Nagaland State, of which 711 samples have tested negative. Results for 13 samples are awaited.
Principal Secretary Home, Abhijit Sinha informed that a total of 1,938 persons were screened on May 5 and a total of 43 persons are under facility quarantine. The number of people who are out of home quarantine is now 6461.
He further informed that a dedicated Nagaland COVID-19 Helpline Toll Free Number – 1800 345 0019 has been launched and the earlier existing health helpline numbers will no longer be functional. All the citizens are now requested to dial the given number for any COVID or other health issues, he said.
Through this Helpline for COVID-19, the State has partnered with Project Step One for services relating to specific Tele-medicine. Services available in this helpline also includes-Telephonic Counselling in collaboration with All Nagaland Counsellors Association (ANCA), consultation on non-COVID related health issues, COVID information Centre, issues regarding nCOVID Nagaland Visitors App and Grievance Redressal related to COVID-19, the Principal Secretary said.
The Principal Secretary also informed that the State Government is taking all measures to enhance the level of preparedness in its medical facilities, assisting its citizens stranded outside the state as well as migrant workers and needy persons within the state.
Law and order
The Principal Secretary also issued the daily report on law and order and said that nine violations of the lockdown were reported and 22 persons were ‘bound down.’
Further, a sum of Rs 22,000 was imposed as fine under the MV Act from 110 vehicles. However, no Law and Order incident has been reported in any part of the State.
Essential goods and services
According to the report, all essential commodity shops and medical shops were open in all the districts. No shortages of food grains, groceries milk or medicines have been reported in any part of the State and no restriction was imposed on the movement of commercial vehicles for distribution of essential commodities and service providers.
The report also stated that suitable arrangements have been made for providing food and shelter to migrant workers affected by the COVID-19 restrictions. In this regard, four relief camps are active where 362 migrant labourers are housed and five food camps are active. Further, more than 2,500 daily wagers and needy people were provided food/dry ration.
