Nagaland: COVID vaccination for frontline workers continues

Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The 2nd phase of COVID vaccination started on February 9 in Dimapur district for the frontline workers. According to a DIPR report, a total of 165 persons got vaccinated.

Leading from the front, Deputy Commissioner Dimapur Rajesh Soundararajan IAS, Commissioner Police Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo IPS, and District Commandant Chishi were vaccinated from respective session sites set up at Urban Primary Health Center Duncan Basti for the district administration, CPs office for the Police personnel and Home Guards office for the HG personnel.

OC Women Cell, Rose Yanthan was the first to be vaccinated from amongst the lady police officers.

District Immunization Officer, Dr Rebecca informed that there were no reports of adverse reactions. She also informed that the 1st dose of COVID vaccination for the frontline workers will continue till March 6.

Mon: Covishield vaccination for Mon police started on February 9 at Police Baptist Church Mon Town. The drive started with a prayer by the Pastor Mon Police Baptist Church. Superintendent of Police (SP), Mon, Imnalensa Ao, IPS was the first to be administered with the vaccine. So far, 199 police personnel beneficiaries from all ranks have been administered with the first dose of Covishield. 

A DIPR report stated that Mon District Task Force held a meeting on February 8 at the Conference Room in the Office of DC Mon for proper implementation of Covishield vaccination drive in the District. 

District Immunization Officer, Dr Shasinle Tep provided the meeting with updates on the data of various immunization drives that have been conducted in the District. With regard to Covid-19 vaccination, Tep highlighted that Nagaland had the highest vaccine wastage figures and proposed for session sites to be set only when there are sufficient numbers of beneficiaries in order to avoid vaccine wastage. 

The vaccination drive is divided into three phases. In the first phase, a total of 623 healthcare workers have been administered with the first dose and the second dose has been scheduled for February 17. 

The second phase started on 8th February where the targeted group includes all frontline workers. The third phase will target persons above 50 years of age from the general public. Data collection and other necessary actions for successful implementation of the third phase was deliberated in the meeting. 

The meeting was chaired by DC, Mon, Thavaseelan K IAS. Various District HoDs and members the District Task Force attended the meeting.

Phek: Phek District has begun its 2nd phase COVID vaccination drive for frontline workers on February 9. The session was held at Police Station, Phek town. Prior to vaccination the frontline workers were sensitized on COVID vaccine by Dr Kolhitso Khalo DIO Phek.

R Tochumong Chang, Additional SP Phek volunteered to take the first vaccine. Total of 2877 frontline workers were registered in the Co-WIN portal for vaccination.

This was stated in a press release issued by Kutolu Nakro, District Media Officer, Phek. 

Meanwhile, according to a DIPR report, the District Task Force Committee on COVID-19 vaccine held a meeting on February 8 at DC’s Conference Hall, Phek and discussed issues pertaining to COVID-19 vaccine roll-out. 

Deputy Commissioner, Phek, Razouvolie Dozo, highlighted on the importance of advocacy programme and asked the public to continue with the precautionary measures in the fight against COVID-19.

Government officials from various departments, NGOs, church leaders and well-wishers attended the meeting programme.
