Nagaland: DTF Kohima & Dimapur to decide on total lockdown

The High Powered Committee (HPC) on COVID-19 today empowered the respective District Task Force (DTF) of Kohima and Dimapur to decide on the appeals made by the civil society organizations for a total lockdown.

This was signaled at the meeting of HPC chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio here today.

Nagaland government spokesperson on COVID-19 Neiba Kronu, who is also Minister for Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, told The Morung Express that the HPC has asked both DTF of Kohima and Dimapur district to have a meeting immediately and take decision.

Kronu, however said, that even if total lockdown is to be enforced there has to be some exemption on certain areas like transportation of essential commodities, access to work relating to the forthcoming state assembly session etc.

Meanwhile, sources informed that the emergency meeting of DTF Kohima is scheduled for July 23 at 10: am. For Dimapur, the DC has called for a DTF meeting on July 23 at 2:00 pm “to discuss matters related to COVID-19 pandemic” and requested all members to attend the same without fail.
