Nagaland education partners push for unified school data system

Kohima, October 7 (MExN): Education organisations working across Nagaland have come together to explore integrating their data and technology systems with the State’s Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK), with the aim of reducing duplication and creating a coordinated, data-driven education ecosystem.

Samagra Shiksha Nagaland (SSN) collaborated with the ConveGenius to organise the first-of-its-kind ‘Partner Meet on Integration with the Nagaland VSK.’

The VSK is being developed as a central hub for education data and technology-enabled governance, with the State positioning it as a “single source of truth” for school education data. Partners were introduced to the VSK’s 6A framework covering Attendance, Adaptive Learning, Assessment, Administration, Accreditation and AI.

Addressing the occasion, SSN State Mission Director, L Jamithung Lotha said several interventions in the State were currently operating in silos, resulting in limited coordination, duplication of efforts and inefficient use of resources.

He said the partner meet was intended to improve awareness of ongoing interventions, encourage collaboration and enable data generated by different programmes to flow into the VSK.

Representatives of participating organisations discussed linking their datasets, APIs, dashboards and technology solutions with the platform. The discussions covered student, teacher and school registries, attendance, assessment, adaptive learning, accreditation, administration, field monitoring and AI-enabled insights.

Participants agreed on the need for a phased approach to integration, including reducing duplication in data collection, developing common reporting frameworks and improving interoperability between education initiatives.

The meet was attended by representatives of NagaEd, Elevate Foundation, Vibha India, Antarang Foundation, Lend A Hand India, Mantra for Change, Key Education Foundation, NECTAR, NITI, ShikshaLokam, Saturday Art Class, IPE Global and Luminous Infoways, among others. Officials from Samagra Shiksha, Directorate of School Education, SCERT and NBSE also participated.

The partners committed to working with the State to strengthen education planning, monitoring and decision-making through data, technology and collaboration, informed an SSN release.
