
Kohima, May 4 (MExN): The Kohima Police arrested one extortionist and two drug paddlers on two different incidents.
The Kohima Police, PRO in an update stated that based on a specific input about extortion being committed along the National Highway by some unknown miscreants; Kohima Police launched operation and arrested one Ahoshe Chophy (45), SS Captain of NSCN (R) on May 2 at NH 29 below Para Medical, while robbing a truck driver.
One motorbike bearing registration number NL-07E/9741, two mobile phones, several incriminating documents and extortion slips were recovered and seized from the possession of the arrested person, the police said.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at North Police Station for further investigation.
Further, on May 3, Highway patrolling unit of Kohima police, while conducting routine checking and frisking of vehicles at Peducha, intercepted one suspicious vehicle (Maruti Gypsy) and recovered 49 packets of suspected heroin weighting around 615 grams worth Rs 3 crore in the international market. The police informed that the contraband drugs were found hidden in a specially modified compartment of the said vehicle.
Accordingly, two accused persons namely Tarsus Khaisu (33) and Mateso Dearson (26) were arrested and handed over to Sechü (Zubza) Police Station along with the sized drugs and vehicle for further investigation.
