Dibrugarh, October 30 (MExN): Observing that the state is lacking behind in human resource sector fore-mostly foreseeing a huge challenge due to dearth of professionals in the health and medical sector, Neiba Kronu, Minister, Planning & Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Nagaland today said, “students need to come together, learn and bring quality education to the core so that they can come back to Nagaland and serve the state in professional capacities.”
Kronu was addressing a gathering during the Golden Jubilee function of the Naga Students' Union Dibrugarh (NSUD) at Sacred Heart Cathedral Compound, Dibrugarh on October 30, stated a press release. He pointed out the viable need for modern medical facility in the form of a Medical College which has not been able to be set up till date, facing graver challenge when one has to ponder the manpower and expertise to run such institutions here. Nonetheless, he commented that the Northeastern states of India are gifted with the richness of land and resources, over-ground and underground.
Mentioning few alumni of Naga students in Dibrugarh, he apprised that our very own legendary footballer T Ao, late minister TM Lotha and legislators like Dr Neikesalie Kire among a host of medical retired officers, and para medical officers, Kronu held that the premiere educational destination offered a conducive, peaceful atmosphere for the lot of Nagas which otherwise not be because of state of Assam's trove.
Kronu called to nurture the relationship and share peace, through the fellowship of oneness, affection and concern for one another.
Naga Students' Federation President, Kegwayhun Tep delivering a Solidarity Speech commended honour to the pioneers of NSUD, and appealed to continue to share the solidarity and harmony of coexistence towards a way forward. He opined the crucial importance of being able to receive education and exposure outside the state which are not received by everybody. Tep asked the students to become assets to our home state by leaders and servers.
While, for the welfare and future aspiration of Nagas is being pursued through the lens of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) to promote meritocracy and fairness of appointment, Tep said it will be implemented very soon at the same time appealing the government for early expedition of the process.
Delivering the Presidential address, Kape Khalo stated that the union was established in 1971 with the vision to cater to the needs of Naga students studying in Dibrugarh and to bring together the Naga community of Dibrugarh as one. “Today, we can find many of the alumni of this union who are leading in the field of academic, in the medical fraternity, in our state’s political arena and even in the field of sports,” he said.
He held that the NSUD has always been instrumental in ensuring their comfortable and safe stay of the Naga students here in Dibrugarh, “The NSUD along with the Naga elders in Dibrugarh, like a guardian has never failed to stand up for the welfare of the Naga students and the Naga community of Dibrugarh in times of unrest and distressing situations.”
Greetings were delivered by Ethungbemo Ezung Senior Alumni, Drug Inspector cum Medical Device Officer, Drug Control Administration, Department of Health and Family Welfare; Er Talikaba Longchar, Advisor, NSUD, Senior Manager, Engineers India Limited; Savizo Kezieo, Ex-President, NSUD and Himaloy Barik, General Secretary Dibrugarh University Post Graduate Students' Union.
Earlier, the commemoration stone of the Golden Jubilee was unveiled at Naga Patient House and Jubilee magazine was launched by the speaker.
