‘Nagaland for Peace & Harmony’ free concert in Dimapur on Aug 6

With an objective towards attaining peaceful co-existence and oneness among the different communities living in the State, the Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) has planned to organise a free concert under the theme, “Nagaland for Peace and Harmony.” This was stated during a press conference with media persons at the residence of DAYO’s treasurer, Indisen Village, Dimapur on July 30. 

Members of the organising committee highlighted that the concert will be held at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on August 6 from 6:30 pm onwards and will showcase a total of eight artists from within and outside the State. These include solo artists, bands and dance crews in the line-up so as to attract individuals both young and old. 

Colored Keys, Samuel Konyak, Vinika Yepthomi, Projection Crew, DGP Band and the Mahila Band are some of the local artists confirmed for the concert. The headlining act will feature the fusion rock band from Kolkata, MSonic, who were finalists for India’s Got Talent in 2009.

Food and beverage stalls will also be set on the venue by members of the 16 federating units under DAYO. 

“Leaders from the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Tenyimia and Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) are also going to give their personal messages that day through pre-recorded videos as well,” the members said. This will also include members from the Marwari Samaj, Bojpuri Samaj and the Bengali Samaj as well.

A special reservation system through online booking will be made available for those interested persons, they informed. “This is on an experimental basis so as not to push for forceful selling of tickets,” added one of the members.  

Meanwhile the members have not specified as to whether online streaming will be made available for the event but admitted that due consideration is being taken on it.

Painting & online poetry slam competition 

In conjunction with the free concert, the members of DAYO in collaboration with Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Dimapur (Ao Students Union Dimapur) will also be organising a free painting competition and online poetry slam competition on August 4. 

The eligibility criteria for the painting competition will be for students of Class 9 to 11 irrespective of their background and registration is open till August 3. Participants have been instructed to come with their own painting brushes, colours and other required materials and a canvas/paper size of 10X12 inches. The competition will commence from 2:30 pm onwards. A cash prize of Rs 10,000 (first), Rs 5000 (second) and Rs 3000 (third) will be handed over to the winners. 

While the poetry slam competition will be for college undergraduate students. Poetry should be 14 lines/sonnets (no plagiarism) and their videos should not exceed more than 3 minutes long.  A cash prize of Rs 10,000 (first), Rs 5000 (second) and Rs 3000 (third) will be handed over to the winners as well.

The venue for the painting competition will be held at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School, Duncan Bosti, Dimapur while participants for the poetry slam can submit a pre-recorded video along with the script, details of the participants at asud.org@gmail.com.
