Nagaland gets SLDC for power distribution

Dimapur, February 2 (MExN): The Department of Power, Nagaland (DoPN) on February 1 formally commissioned a state of the art central monitoring unit for power distribution in the state. The unit, known as the State Load Despatch Centre, will serve as a supervisory unit for smooth electricity distribution in the state. 

As per a press release, Engineer-in-Chief, Shikato Sema inaugurated the SLDC at the existing load centre located at Electricity colony, Full Nagarjan. The release quoted Er Sema as stating, “The SLDC will prove to be very challenging and, at the same time, interesting,” while adding that it will ensure integrated grid operations. 

“The SLDC will be responsible for carrying real time operations for grid control and dispatch of electricity within the state through secure and economic operation in the state grid in accordance with the grid standards and the state grid code,” the release said.

The objective is to achieving the maximum “economy and efficiency” in the operation of the power transmission and distribution system in the state.

A DoPN official when contacted by The Morung Express said that the SLDC will operate in coordination with the North East Regional Load Despatch Centre, Shillong for smooth and controlled supply of electricity. 

The release further quoted the Superintending Engineer (Transmission) as stating that the SLDC will be responsible for optimum scheduling and dispatch of electricity within the state in accordance with the contracts entered into with the licensees or the generating companies operating in the state.
