DIMAPUR, JANUARY 21 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, Prof Jagdish Mukhi has directed the Deputy Commissioner of Mon to look into the grievances of the School Education Department and write a letter to the concerned authority for posting the required teachers in the district educational institutions.
The Governor was visiting Longwa Village in Mon district on January 21 when he learnt that science stream is offered in only one Higher Secondary School in Mon. A press release from the PRO to the Governor reported the latter directing the Mon DC “to take action to introduce science in another Higher Secondary School.”
Prof Mukhi also asked the DC to write to the concerned authority and follow up to ensure there are required laboratory technicians and other medical technicians posted in the district.
He also said that government employees are very fortunate since they are blessed with prestige and power and less than 1% of the population has that privilege. He said a government employee has an additional moral responsibility since he/she is highly regarded and has the knowledge to guide whoever comes for help.
During his interaction with the heads of offices in Mon district, the Governor said he was privileged to be in a historical village. He said that the launch of Swachhta Abhiyan has created wonders in the country since children in schools developed the habit of not littering around. Today the common site of throwing trash out of the car window in Delhi is not seen, the Governor claimed, while adding that the notion of sanitation is adopted through inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi.
He also stressed on the Prime Minister's vision for electrification to ensure that every house and not just every village gets electrified. “Today all the villages are electrified in Mon except for a couple of new villages,” he stated while maintaining that the success of schemes depends on the practicality of the scheme, good leadership and strong monitoring at the lower level.
The Governor also stated that the Jal Jeevan Mission facilitating the supply of water to the 142 villages in Mon may look like a minor issue but water is basic needs for everybody and the scheme is very significant.
DC Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma IAS, during the interaction, said Mon has the potential in village tourism since lots of tourists visit due to the location and also the good culture of the people. He also said handicrafts and handloom have potential in the district.
Self Help Groups under the National Livelihood Mission set up stalls at the venue in Longwa. Cultural troupes also gave two cultural presentations.
