KOHIMA, MAY 27 (MExN): Nagaland Governor, RN Ravi today stressed on the need for more BSL laboratories in the State and called for improving the conditions of all district hospitals, which are also COVID-19 hospitals.

A press release from the Raj Bhavan informed that the Governor said this during a meeting on May 27 to review the preparedness of the State Government in the backdrop of some recent Covid-19 positive cases in the State.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including the Chief Secretary, Temjen Toy; and Additional Chief Secretary, Sentiyanger Imchen among others.

The Governor emphasized on the need for rigorous contact tracing of all those who came in contact with COVID-19 positive patients in Nagaland in the last 14 days and quarantining them either at home or institutions depending on their health symptoms.

The Governor stated that contact tracing and their management is the most crucial preventive protocol against spread of the virus.

He meanwhile praised the health professionals for their dedication and selfless service to the people and exhorted the senior officials to be in touch with them and be responsive to their legitimate needs and apprehensions.

The Governor also urged the people of the State to continue observing safety guidelines including social distancing and not to panic, not to stigmatise the COVID-19 patients and be compassionate to them.

"They are our own people who have become victims for no fault of theirs," he said.
