Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): The Nagaland State Government delegation team led by Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton reached Kerala on August 22.
The delegation handed the “Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund” to Kerela Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the state’s capital, Thiruvananthapuram.
Patton was accompanied by V Kashiho Sangtam, Minister for Soil & Water Conservation, Woman & Child Development and Dr Longriniken, Advisor for Law & Justice, Border Affairs and Treasuries & Accounts with Kerala BJP Officials, a press release from Media Cell, BJP Nagaland informed.
During a press briefing of the solidarity visit, Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland expressed his sadness over the severe calamity which has “brought them to share the deeply felt sympathy and solidarity of people of Nagaland towards every citizen of Kerala.”
Patton also extended condolences to the families & well-wishers over the loss of the precious lives lost in the calamity.
Saluting the “resilience of the people of Kerala for braving the unimaginable fury with unity,” he also lauded all organizations and individuals involved in the ongoing relief and rescue operation in the state, the release added.
Further appreciating Prime Minister Modi and the central government, Patton appealed the Central Government to extend all possible assistance in rebuilding and restructuring the state.
Stating that Nagaland is also experiencing torrential rainfall, he expressed that Naga people can feel the pain and agony of every citizen of Kerala. “Nature’s unprecedented fury has triggered massive landslides in Nagaland too, which has extensively damaged the roads & bridges besides many properties,” he added.
Further noting that Nagaland and Kerala share brotherly relation for many years he said that the Nagas are indebted to their Malayallee brothers for their immense contribution in the development of Nagaland, particularly in the field of human resources and education. "Many of them are still in the government service, besides many more who have retired,” he added.
