Nagaland Governor inaugurates Jadonang Boys Hostel at Tening

TENING, MARCH 20 (MExN): The newly constructed Jadonang Boys Hostel at Zeliangrong Heraka School in Tening, Peren, was inaugurated on March 20 by Nagaland Governor La Ganesan. The event took place at Town Hall Tening with key figures including MLA Namri Nchang and district officials in attendance.

In his address, Governor Ganesan highlighted the importance of the school, which was established in 1984 by the Janjati Vikas Samiti Nagaland. Originally a primary school, the institution has since grown into a high school that serves students from 23 villages across Nagaland, Assam, and Manipur. He praised the school’s commitment to both academic and cultural excellence, emphasizing its role in promoting unity among tribal and non-tribal communities.

The Governor also acknowledged the school’s academic success, noting that its students have maintained a 100% pass rate in the HSLC exams for 16 of the last 19 years, including an uninterrupted 12-year streak from 2011 to 2022. He credited this achievement to the dedication of teachers, many of whom are alumni, and the school’s community-driven approach.

In addition to academic performance, Ganesan recognized the school’s cultural contributions, including programs like Raksha Bandhan celebrations, science tours, and participation in the National Children’s Science Congress. These activities, he said, have helped foster a broader outlook among students and preserved indigenous traditions.

The Governor also noted the success of the school’s alumni, who have made significant contributions across various sectors. He emphasized that the school’s impact extends beyond individual achievement, fostering a lifelong commitment to societal upliftment.

Governor Ganesan expressed hope that the inauguration of the Jadonang Boys Hostel would further inspire students to strive for excellence, providing them with a place to nurture their dreams and build lasting friendships.

MLA Namri Nchang, who attended as a guest of honor, praised the school’s accomplishments, particularly its 100% pass rate in HSLC exams over the past 14 years. He also reflected on the school’s history, particularly the contributions of Late Rani Gaidinliu, whose vision led to the creation of the institution. Nchang encouraged students and faculty to continue striving for success and to embrace a collective effort in reaching new heights.

The event also included the unveiling of the Jadonang Boys Hostel monolith by Governor Ganesan, and the flagging off of a school bus donated to the school by Dhruba Charan Bal, General Manager of SBI-NE Circle, and Hubert A.S. Wungshim, Regional Manager, RBO, Dimapur.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Kinkeriulungbo, Chairman of the School Managing Board.
