Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Nagaland and Assam addressing the occasion of celebrating Mahaparinirvan Diwas at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): On the occasion of celebrating Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Prof Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Nagaland and Assam, his wife Prem Mukhi, officers and staff of Raj Bhavan paid a floral tribute to Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar at Dr Imkongliba Ao Hall, Raj Bhavan, Kohima in commemoration of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav, an initiative of the Government of India, celebrating 75 years of India's Independence.
PRO to Governor in a press release stated that the Governor said Mahostav has been launched on March 12, 2021 to commemorate 91 years of Dandi March as a tribute to India's freedom fighters and freedom struggle.
Prof Mukhi said Dr Ambedkar was a fighter and a social reformer, who championed the hearts of the downtrodden people in the society. He emphasized on fundamental duties and called upon the citizens of Nagaland to uproot all forms of discrimination and follow the fundamental duties as envisage in the Constitution.
Earlier, in his speech, T Mhabemo Yanthan, Commissioner & Secretary to the Governor dwelled on the life and achievements of Dr Ambedkar. He said Dr Ambedkar was a great statesman, a jurist, social reformer and the founder architect of the Constitution of India. He urged all to emulate the exemplary life of Dr Ambedkar.
