Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Nagaland Govt. Registered Class-I Contractors Union (NGRCCU) has strongly warned two contractors namely B Wati and N Lotha against misleading the public and further using the name of the union.
A release issued by KC Angami, Acting President and Pukhato Shohe, General Secretary while reiterating that in an emergency meeting held on March 21 unanimously terminated the two aforementioned persons from the membership, stated that they were not entitled to use the name of the union. It held the view that it amounted to defaming the union as well as the name of the Acting President.
The union stated that the two were dismissed for going to the press for making public statements without convening any meeting. It maintained that the two contractors had denounced as unconstitutional and unacceptable the meeting held on March 4 as well as alleging that KC Angami was not holding any membership in the union.
“The election was proper and the house has unanimously elected Mr KC Angami as the Acting President till the next General election of the union. Mr KC Angami is very much a bona-fide member as he was one of the founders and pioneers of the union” the NGRCCU said.
Further giving accounts on the grounds of expulsion form the union, the NGRCCU informed that an emergency meeting was convened on March 21 “in order to find out the reason and also give an opportunity to Mr B Wati and Mr N Lotha as to why they had done such publication on their own as it was a clear violation of the constitution of the union and against the decision of the union adopted during the general body meeting held on March 4 which is the highest decision making body.”
The union also maintained that instead of attending the proposed emergency meeting to avail the opportunity of a hearing, B Wati went to the press informing members not to attend the meeting terming it as authorized.
“Mr B Wati thereby, repeatedly (undermined) the appointment of the Acting President undermining the decision of the house” the statement said adding that it has created a very serious issue and the NGRCCU would not tolerate the unbecoming behavior.
The union also made clear that despite B Wati's much effort to stop the proposed emergency meeting a good number of members including the office bearers and executive members attended the meeting and expressed in the strongest terms whether to retain the two contractors “and salvage the dignity of the union.”
Reaffirming that the election conducted on March 4 unanimously electing KC Angami was proper and constitutionally valid, the union expressed solidarity with the Acting President and united, strengthen his leadership.
It warned again the two contractors in question, not to mislead the public and accept this warning as final failing which the union would be forced to initiate its own course of action and the two would be held solely responsible for any consequences arising thereafter.
