Longleng, March 10 (MExN): Asserting that Phom community is peace loving people, Nagaland Minster for Health & Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom appealed them to continue working together in unity for all round development of the district.
Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of District Hospital Longleng at new hospital site on March 10, Pangyu observed that celebrations like ‘Phom Day’ on June 6 and ‘Phoms towards 21st Centaury’ were the inspiring spirit upholding and harnessing peace not only among the Phoms but also with her neighbours and rest of the Nagas.
According to a DIPR report, the Minister appealed to the H&FW officials for early completion of the DPR, pursue post creation of employees and other follow-up action for early functioning of the hospital with full facilities.
While briefing on the overview of the project, Er Moanaro, Executive Engineer, Medical Engineering Division Kohima informed that it will be a 50 bedded hospital with estimate cost of Rs 12 crores. She said that DPR is underway and would be completed soon however site development will go on side by side for speedy completion of the construction.
The Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M Shayung Phom pointed out that COVID-19 pandemic was a blessing in disguise for Longleng district as “lots of unexpected development took place for upliftment of the hospital during this period.” He narrated how both COVID hospital and district hospital was functioning with the available resources and active contribution from various sources as health care facilities becomes priority to combat the virus.
Director (Health), H&FW, Dr Neikhrielie Khimiao in his short speech said that the department alone cannot bring development to the hospital and appealed for active support and cooperation of the people.
The others who spoke were President PPC, President Phomla Hoichem, President Longleng Town ward, Chairman Orangkong village. Earlier welcome address was proposed by Dr. Lhouvizotuo Belho, Medical Superintendent, DHL and invocation was done by H Mongnhoi Associate Pastor, LTBC.
The programme was chaired by Dr Ademla Tinu, SMO, DHL and concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Obangjungla, CMO, Longleng.
Yachem PHC upgraded to Community Health Centre
Later, the Health Minister also inaugurated the upgradation of Yachem PHC to Community Health Centre. In Yachem, welcome address and health status was proposed by Dr Obangjungla, CMO Longleng followed by short speeches by Pichano Kikon, EAC Yachem; Dr Neikhrielie Khimiao Director H&FW; Longkang Head Barrick Yaongyimchen; Manshei Chairman Alayung village; Mokba Chairman Sanglu village; Longnyu 2nd Barrick Yachem and Shami Angh President PPC respectively. The programme was chaired by Dr James MO Yachem.
