Nagaland likely to get five new Polytechnics centres

Nagaland is likely to get five more new Polytechnics and the state’s department of Higher Education is vigorously expediting for the same. This came into light at the 1st General Conference of the ‘All Nagaland Industrial Training Institute Teaching Staff Association’ ((ANITITSA) held here today at Hotel Japfu.

Additional Director and HoD Employment and Craftsmen Training, M.Sangtam stated that five new ITI are a on the process of establishment in the state. He stressed on the need to have quality training for the poor and down trodden. He advocated that lack of skilled education for poor and down trodden invited the increasing trends of unemployment amongst the youth.

Also speaking on the occasion, Er.Vipulhou Lhoungu, Deputy Director, Technical Education said the present three Polytechnics in the state offers 10 different courses. Stating that the higher education in Nagaland is still in infant stage and still behind other states in the area of higher education, he stressed on the need to give importance to this area.

Referring to quality Technical Education in the state, he said, the accreditation which is a mandatory for all the Technical Institution in the country under the National Board of Accreditation is being processed for the existing Polytechnics in the state.
