Dr Chumben Murry, the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) consensus candidate for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland has expressed confidence of his party’s victory while asserting that they would secure no less than 70 % of the vote.

He stated this while addressing the media after casting his vote at SMB School, Polling Station- 9 in Wokha district on Friday.
Murry stated that “Congress had played a religious card accusing that BJP as Anti-Christian but now people have realised that it is a wrong thing to do.” He also alleged that the Congress had even come up with a law that will recognise or legalized homosexuality.

On the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) issue, Dr Murry underscored the significance of the electoral process for public benefit. He said that even if the ENPO chose not to participate, voter turnout figures might decrease, but the percentage would stay constant. However, he expressed that they would be happier and more comfortable if the ENPO had gone for voting.

He remarked that the people's enthusiasm is notably higher this time due to increased anticipation. “We are living in a crucial time, and this is primarily because of the unresolved Naga political issue. The Government of India is showing keen interest in addressing it, as mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.

He emphasised that Nagaland is still deficient in many infrastructure development, and claimed that the government of the day is taking extra step to ensure that the sports facilities are up to the mark where National and International events can be hold. He pointed out “road development is also taking place all over Nagaland, and the other infrastructure, facilities and basic needs that we need to look after, we have to see to it that it has 100% coverage.”

Meanwhile, MLA Y Mhonbemo Humtsoe, after casting his vote in Wokha village commended on the sense of responsibility exhibited by the present generation. He praised the active participation of voters, noting a positive turnout despite the historical trend of lower importance given to Lok Sabha elections in the state.

Humtsoe remarked that this increased participation reflects a shift in people's mindsets. He also highlighted the peaceful and harmonious atmosphere across all polling stations in Wokha 38 AC, where predominantly women officers were stationed.
