DIMAPUR, MAY 17 (MExN): The Nagaland Medical Council (NMC) has urged the State’s medical fraternity to “commit themselves to face the situation and not shy away from the responsibilities.”
A press issued by the NMC appreciated members of the medical fraternity for their contribution to the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic so far.
It further appealed to members who are not in active service, such as retired doctors to equip/upgrade themselves as their services may be called anytime if the situation demands.
In this context, it is reminded that the Medical Council of India Code of Ethics, Chapter 5.2 states that “when an epidemic occurs a physician should not abandon his duty for fear of contracting the disease himself”. Failure to comply with the Code of Ethics may invite disciplinary action, it stated.
“We wish you to follow the SOP guidelines and give your best to the noble humanitarian service,” the NMC said.
