DIMAPUR, AUGUST 2 (MExN): The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has appealed all the churches in Nagaland to set aside this weekend, especially Sunday to “intercede and seek God’s intervention and deliverance and bring healing to our people and our land.”
An NBCC communiqué said the unprecedented bad weather for the last couple of weeks has caused loss of lives and properties, damage of agriculture and infrastructure, landslides and blockages making life inconvenient and uncertain for many.
At such trying times, the church council has called upon all and sundry to extend any possible help to those who are working hard to bring the situation to normal. “We need each other when things are beyond our control. We need to extend support in any possible way to bring comfort to those who are affected badly. Therefore, together let us go through this situation seeking God’s intervention and mercy upon us so that he will be gracious to our land,” the church council stated in the communiqué.
While urging all to pray for those who have lost their loved ones in water, in landslides and other related accident during this unfortunate event, the church council has called upon believers and the church as a community of people to turn to one’s neighbours and extend any possible help to the families and the suffering community that need help.
The church council called upon all to exercise extreme care in the face of fragile infrastructures of road and bridges and heavy soil erosion leading to landslides.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) has also appealed to all the churches in Nagaland to pray for the present situation and “seek God's mercy and the intervention of the Holy Spirit.” All the churches are therefore requested to pray for the situation of Nagaland and the affected states in India on Sunday, August 5, 2018, a press release issued by Rev. Dr. N. Paphino, NCRC president stated.
