THE LONG felt need of the people in around Jalukie was realized yesterday with the inauguration of Govt. High School Jalukie to Higher secondary level by Imkong L. Imchen Minister for School Education SCERT, IT&TE.
Addressing the gathering at Govt. High School Ground Jalukie, Imkong recollected the impression it made on his mind during his last visit when he made the commitment for the school upgradation. He revealed the existence of 2 GPS under the district, which is functioning without the approval and consent of the concern Directorate.
Expressing regret over meager 85 lacs funds sanctioned for construction of infrastructure he urged the people not to be discourage, speculating the present scenario of 1800 Govt. Run schools in Nagaland, he lamented that most of them are in a deplorable conditions and state that the funds for the current year would be inadequate to cater to all these requirements. He went on to say that instead of getting appreciation for their various efforts of upliftment, they are often issued warrants while adding that the state is in dire needs of 9–10 similar Higher secondary institutes in some district of the state. Keeping that economic sustenance of the people in mind, which is at the lowest rung, he suggested that providence of free text books and uniforms would be a great relief for the poor parents, which, he optimistically viewed can be implemented by the next Govt.
He further said that no Government preceding the DAN Govt. in Nagaland has done so much for the state breaking all barriers with onslaught of massive developmental work within a short span of five years and credited the success to the dynamic leadership of Nephio Rio. Imkong also disclosed that the teaching staffs for the School would be posted within two weeks period.
Speaking at the function, Vatsu Meru, MLA 7th A/C Peren asked the Govt. not to suppressed our deprived the district (Peren) as she need to catch up with the rest of the districts. While speaking about the discrepancies in filling up of vacancies deserving by the people of the area, he also express his discontentment over the system in which some teaching staffs are transferred with Post adding to the woes of the students, he pointed out that the over-stuffed class rooms school be a matter to be considered by the Govt.
Tarei, MLA 6th A/C tening, expressed his appreciation to the concern departments and ministers for his initiative in fulfilling his commitment within 14th months of his last visit and called upon the people to stand firm in support of the present Govt.
“Since the norms passed by the Govt. to implement Vocational Education, in Nagaland has been a total failure, we are going ahead with academy session instead and so far 16th Higher Secondary Schools with Science Streams are running in the state” said Nipusilie, Director Schools Education while speaking at the function. He disclosed that the present appointments owing to up-gradation of the schools includes one class 1 Gazetted (Principal), 14 Class II gazetted and three ministerial staffs, while expressing his awareness of teaching staffs shortage in the district of Peren. Replying to a query raised from some corners, he said that if there are any concrete cases relating to ‘transfer with post’, without the consent of the concern VEC, and the matter filling up of the vacancies, he would look into the matter. He further cautioned the concern officers not to pick out teachers from schools already faced with shortage of staffs.
The program was chaired Zarenthung Ezung SDO (C) Jalukie, and invocated by Mongzeung Mpom Pastor Local Baptist Church Jalukie town, while Govt. High School Student presented a welcome song, welcome address and Vote of Thanks was pronounced by Akangna Headmistress GHS Jalukie and Dennis Elunglung President Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland respectively. Other highlights of the program include folk songs by Govt. High School and Cultural dance by the villagers of Samziuram and New Jalukie. Earlier the Chief Guest also unveiled the foundation stone.
