AR apprehends two NSCN (K) cadres
Kohima, September 9 (MExN): Based on specific information Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted an operation in general area D Block near Kohima garrison main gate, Kohima on September 7. AR in a press release stated that two cadres of NSCN (K) were apprehended during the operation. The apprehended persons were identified as Shupu Pfithu (22) and Nilo (20). The recovered items included cash amount of Rs 11,890 and 27 extortion slips amounting to Rs 5,60,000. Both the apprehended persons during spot questioning revealed of extortion demand having been placed at various shops in High School Junction, Kohima. They were handed over to North Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.
Proposed bandh at CTN called off
Changtongya, September 9 (MExN): The All Ward Union Changtongya Town (AWUCT) has called off the proposed bandh scheduled from October 2 in protest against the lack of doctors and staff at Community Health Centre (CHC) at Changtongya. AWUCT, Chairman, T Meyi Longkumer and Secretary, Merenyanger in a press release acknowledged the government for the assertion to look into the matter and resolve at the earliest. It may be mentioned here that the Union has earlier asked the government to look into the matter at the earliest, failing which the public would be compelled to observe an indefinite bandh from October 2 by blocking National Highway 62 and Longleng road.
NPF Kiphire Division meeting
Kiphire, September 9 (MExN): The Review Committee of Naga People's Front (NPF) Kiphire Division has convened a consultative meeting on September 11, 10:00 am with both 59 a/c and 60 a/c, Kiphire Town at the residence of its Convenor R Joshua Sangtam. A release from Justin Khatomong T, Member Secretary, Review Committee has informed all the assembly constituency office bearers, area unit presidents and senior party leaders from both the constituency to attend the meeting without fail.
BVC reminds landowners on ILP verification
Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): The Bade Village Council (BVC) in its ILP verification drive currently being undertaken within the jurisdiction of Bade Village, has reminded “tenants without proper certified documents will not be allowed to reside within the village jurisdiction.” A release from its Chairman Kiesalie Thopi has further notified that, in future, all landowners desiring to keep new tenants/coolie/workers will be required to register with the Village authorities. Any dispute/cases arising out of non-registration of tenants/coolie/workers will be borne by the Landowners, it warned.
ENPO condoles demise of Hamnyei Phom
Dimapur, September 9 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organization (ENPO) has mourned the demise of Hamnyei Phom, former President of Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) on September 4. “Late Hamnyei Phom was an active and committed social worker at the grassroots for his tribe in particular and Eastern Nagaland in general. He will be remembered for his endurance and selfless contribution towards the people of Eastern Nagaland," a condolence message issued by Media Cell, ENPO stated and conveyed condolences to the family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
