Sumi Legislators appeal for peace 

Dimapur, April 1 (MExN): The Sumi Legislators on Thursday condemned the March 22nd incident and the act committed by unidentified persons where three lives were lost and properties damaged.
The Sumi Legislators in a joint statement, issued on April 1 following a meeting, appealed to both Zeliang and Sumi communities to maintain peace and extend support to the Government for bringing the issue to an end.  It also appealed to all to refrain from further escalating the issue by enraging the sentiments of the two communities but to uphold the spirit of brotherhood and support the two communities towards peaceful co-existence and positive settlement to the issue. It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.

One arm peddler arrested in Kiphire 

Kiphire, April 1 (MExN): One illegal arms peddler was apprehended in general area Sampurre Junction, Kiphire on March 30. Informing this in an update, Lt Col Sumit K Sharma, PRO (Def) Kohima said that “based on a specific input, Security Forces in a joint operation with State Police apprehended one illegal arms peddler and one point 22mm pistol with magazine, 10 rounds of point 22mm ammunition and one Ecco Van  near Sampurre Junction, Kiphire.” He also informed that the apprehended individual along with recoveries have been handed over to Kiphire Police Station for further investigation.

Phek police arrest two for theft 

Kohima, April 1 (MExN): Phek District police arrested two persons namely Theputo Nyekha (38) and Sato Lohe (40) on March 28 and 29 respectively both from Suthozu new village for stealing cables near Chozuba town belonging to Mukand Systems and Networking Pvt Ltd involved in providing optical optical fibre connecting to telecom operators in Phek district. The stolen cables were recovered from their possession. A case has been registered against the duo vide case No 379/426/34 R/W Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act 1984 Sec 3. Phek SP has warned that any person receiving or purchasing stolen property will face penal section under IPC.

Road closed in Sakraba & Pholami village area

Phek, April 1 (MExN): In the interest of the public safety, there will be total restriction of traffic movement between Sakraba & Pholami village area between the chainage 20+000 to 20+500 from 9:00 pm to 5:00 am from April 2 to 30. The restriction is necessitated to facilitate speedy completion of 2-Lane construction works of Phek-Pfutsero road. Public have been advised to avoid travelling in the aforementioned stretch during the stipulated time for safety, all concerned may take note of the same for necessary action.

Weekly festival special train services extended 

Maligaon, April 1 (MExN): To clear rush of passengers during festive season, the services of weekly festival special train running between Udaipur and New Jalpaiguri has been extended to run for 13 trips with existing timings, stoppages and composition. Services of Train No. 09601 Udaipur - New Jalpaiguri Weekly Festival Express Special leaving from Udaipur on every Saturday is extended to run from April 3 to June 26 for 13 trips. In return direction, services of Train No. 09602 New Jalpaiguri – Udaipur Weekly Express Special leaving from New Jalpaiguri on every Monday has been extended to run from April 5 to June 28 for 13 trips.  The train has AC-2 tier, AC-3 tier, sleeper class and general second class accommodations for passengers, informed a press release issued by Subhanan Chanda, Chief Public Relations Officer.
