35 arrested for violation of NLTP Act

Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The Excise Department has arrested 35 persons from various pockets of Dimapur town and the Chümoukedima highway area for violation of the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition Act, 1989. According to a press release from the Additional Commissioner of Excise on Thursday, the arrests were made on December 14 when the Department conducted duty/raids in various pockets and areas in and around Dimapur town area and Chümoukedima highway area. A total of 1740 bottles/cans of assorted Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and beer were seized during the exercise. The department will continue to conduct such surprise raids to control the menace of illegal liquor in view of the festive season and also the upcoming general election in 2023, stated the release. 

Renovated NSF Martyrs’ Park opens on Dec 17

Kohima, December 15 (MExN): The renovated NSF (Naga Students’ Federation) Martyrs’ Park in Kohima will be inaugurated on December 17 at 10:00 AM at NSF Martyrs Park. It will be inaugurated by Nagaland’s planning & coordination, land revenue and parliamentary affairs minister Neiba Kronu. The programme will be followed by release of NSF 75th years celebration souvenir at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.

NE Theatre Fest from Dec 22 to 24 in Dimapur 

Dimapur, December 15 (MExN): The National School of Drama Repertory Company in collaboration with Zoe Theatre Dimapur will be organising the North East Theatre Festival 2022 at Dimapur Town Hall from December 22 to 24, from 5:30 pm daily. According to a press release, entry is free for all. There will be three shows including Khoob Ladi Mardani: Subhadra ki Zubani, Bayan, and Tajmahal ka Tender, it added.

Deputy Commissioner Wokha notifies

Wokha, December 15 (MExN): In view of the upcoming General Election to the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly and to ensure a peaceful atmosphere in the district, physical verification of all firearms and ammunition being held by the licensees in Wokha will be conducted across the district. As per an order issued by the Wokha Deputy Commissioner through the state DIPR, all the arms license holders under the Wokha district have been directed to report to the concerned Police Station between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM by December 31, with the arms/ammunition and license booklet for physical verification, following the rules 30 and 112 of the Arms Rules 2016. The Officer-in-charge of the concerned Police Station shall furnish a daily report in Excel format with the following details: Name of the License holder, License Number, UIN Number, Type of Arms & Number, License last renewed date, and number of ammunition available, it added.
