DC Longleng seals house at Agri’s ward

Longleng, April 21 (MExN): In view of the detection of COVID-19 positive cases at a house in Agri ward Longleng, the Deputy Commissioner of Longleng has declared the building as “sealed area in order to control the spread of the disease/infection and for necessary contact tracing.”
All movement of person/vehicles in the sealed area is strictly prohibited and shall remain under active surveillance with immediate effect until further notice, stated a DIPR report. 

Unidentified dead body recovered 

Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): An unidentified dead body was recovered from railway track at KM No.261/8-9 towards Dimapur-Khatkhati End on April 21, the district police informed in a release. 
The recovered body is ‘suspected to be a non-Naga male’ approximately around 25-30 years, said the press release from the Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur. 
On completion of all legal formalities the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur for PM examination and identification, it said, further informing that the  deceased was wearing blue jacket, brown belt, light brown pant, grey socks and black slipper.
Claimant for the dead body or relatives and friends are requested to contact Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Officer-in-Charge, it added. 

Two ULFA (I) cadres surrender in Tuensang: HQ IGAR (N)

Kohima, April 21 (MExN): Two active cadres of ULFA (I) surrendered at Pessao, Tuensang on April 19, an official release informed today.   
Concerted efforts of the Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) in convincing the cadres to “rejoin the mainstream” have resulted in the surrender, maintained the release from PRO HQ IGAR (N), Kohima. 
Surrender of the active cadres “epitomises the humane face” of the Assam Rifles, while working to maintain peace in the region and may hopefully motivate others to rejoin the mainstream, it added. 

NLA meeting on Naga political issue postponed

Kohima, April 21 (MExN): A meeting of all members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on Naga political issue scheduled on April 26 in Dimapur has been postponed. “The said meeting stands postponed due to the increase in the COVID-19 positive cases,” stated a press release from the Nagaland Chief Minister’s Office. 

JCPI informs

Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): The Joint Committee for Prevention of Illegal Immigrants (JCPI) today informed that a consultative meeting with the leaders of all Naga tribal apex bodies scheduled on April 23 has been kept on abeyance until further notice. An emergency meeting of the JCPI on April 21 took the decision keeping in mind the worsening scenario of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, informed a press release from the Committee’s Media Cell. “Obeying the SOP of the latest Order and keeping the safety of our leaders is of utmost priority. JCPI sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused,” it added.

TSUD postpones general conference

Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): The Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur has postponed its general conference scheduled on April 24 in view of escalation of COVID-19 cases and the appeal made by the government not to conduct big events. The decision was taken during an emergency Union Assembly held at the Tenyimi Complex on April 21.  The meeting unanimously decided to postpone the general conference in view of the escalation of Covid-19 cases and the appeal made by the government not to conduct big events, stated a press release from TSUD’s Media Cell . Losü Dikho, Minister PHED, Printing and Stationaries, Government of Manipur, who was supposed to come as the “Special Guest" for the Conference has also conveyed his inability to attend the program due to the pandemic, it said.  TSUD further apologised for any inconveniences caused to anyone due to deferment of the programme and wished everyone to stay safe and listen to the directives of the government.
