Dimapur Police arrest two for extortion

Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): The Dimapur Police on June 21 apprehended one person, Kakhevi Assumi (27) on charges of extorting money from FCI trucks at Kevijau colony in the name of NSCN (Khango). In this connection a cash of Rs 2200 was also seized from his possession. A case has been registered at SBN PS, informed an update from Addl Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur. 

On June 19, Dimapur Police arrested one person Sepelo Koza (26) ‘RSI’ NSCN (IM) while extorting money from labour contractors at Purana Bazar area. Six extortion slips and cash of Rs 1000 were seized from his possession. A case has been registered at East PS, the PRO stated. 

Haiying mourn Tsumang’s demise

Kohima, June 21 (MExN): Nagaland’s Printing & Stationery and Prisons Advisor H Haiying mourned the untimely demise of Tsumang, jailor, District Jail Kiphire at his native village Kusong on June 20. Haiying described Tsumang as an efficient, sincere and promising officer in the Department of Prisons, Nagaland. The vacuum created by his untimely demise will be difficult to fill and is irreplaceable, the advisor stated in a condolence message. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace, Haiying added.

One apprehended with weapon in Phek

Phek, June 22 (MExN): Based on a “specific intelligence,” PIB (Defence Wing) reported that Security Forces under Spear Corps in a joint operation with police apprehended “armed” cadre of Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) in general area Kadie Kami village under Phek district on June 20. It stated that the troops also recovered one 303 rifle with magazine, one M 20 Pistol with magazine, and some incriminating documents at Kadie Kami village. “The apprehended individual alongwith recovered items have been handed over to Pfutsero Police Station for further investigation,” it stated.
