Select Committee on SARFAESI Act to meet on April 26

KOHIMA, APRIL 19 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio has convened a meeting of the Select Committee to examine the application of the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002 (SARFAESI Act, 2002) to Nagaland on April 26 at 10 am in the Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex, Chümoukedima. 

The meeting will discuss application of the Act in the context of Article 371-A of the Constitution of India, informed a press release from the NLA Secretariat. All committee members have been asked to attend the meeting. It may be noted that the Chief Minister is also the Chairman of the said Select Committee. 

Pfutsero police seizes IMFL

Kohima, April 19 (MExN): Pfutsero police personnel under Phek Police along with F Coy 10 NAP (IR) while conducting vehicle checking at PWD junction Pfutsero town on April 17, seized 27 and half cases of IMFL rum and 2 cases of whisky from a truck bearing registration No NL08D 5423. According to police source, the owner of the illegal IMFL namely Krowepe Lohe (27 years) from Losami village has been arrested. A case has been registered under NLTP Act 1989 and the case is under investigation.

One ULFA (I) cadre surrenders in Tuensang 

Kohima, April 19 (MExN): A cadre of ULFA (I) surrendered before the Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (North) on April 16, an official release informed today. 

The “sustained and cogent pursuit for peace in the region” by the Battalion resulted in the surrender a forward COB “along the IMB,” stated the HQ IGAR (N) PRO’s press release. 

The surrender is a testimony of the consistent efforts of the Assam Rifles for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the region, it maintained. 

One Khango-led NSCN (K) cadre held

Kohima, April 19 (MExN): A cadre of Khango-led NSCN (K) was arrested during a joint operation by security forces and police at in general area Kezekie Market Kohima on April 17, an offical release informed today. 

The operation based on a “specific input” also resulted in the recovery of “seven Blank Extortion Slips with counter foil,10 Blank Slips without counter foil, three Extortion slips worth Rs 64,000/- and variety of other items," stated the release from PRO HQ IGAR (N), Kohima. 

The cadre was handed over to North Police Station, Kohima alongwith the recovered items for further investigation, it added. 

NSCN (IM) condoles

Dimapur, April 19 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed sadness over the demise of Kedilungbe Lungalang on April 19. 

Late Lungalang was from Heiningkunglwa village under Asalu Region and joined the Naga national service as a Naga Army and upon retirement served the Region since February 2019 as a Khapur until his demise, informed a condolence note from MIP, NSCN/GPRN.

He served the nation with unwavering patriotism until his demise and the void created by his demise is deeply felt and would be difficult to fill in, it said. 

However, for selfless contributions to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and ever cherished by all, it added. 

The NSCN (IM) also conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members of Late Lungalang and said: “May our Lord bless and comfort his family members during this time of grief! We pray for his spirit to rest in eternal peace.”
