3 held with heroin and weapons in Tuensang

TUENSANG, APRIL 26 (MExN): The Tuensang police arrested three persons for drug trafficking. As per a press release from the Superintendent of Police, Tuensang, the arrests were made following a series of raids, which also resulted in the recovery of a cache of illicit drugs and firearms. 

“Receiving information of drug peddling in Tuensang town, a special team conducted raids in two houses at Officer Colony, Tuensang and one house near District Hospital,” it informed. Suspected heroin weighing approximately 42.62gm, 250 capsules of spasmo proxyvon, two .22 pistols, one .32 pistol alongwith two magazines and cash amounting to Rs 2,20,810 were recovered during the raids. 

The arrested individuals included one man, who was identified as Bin Lempong Chang (30 years). The other two were women. They were booked under the NDPS and Arms Acts. 

The street value of the confiscated drugs was estimated to be around 2.6 lakhs.

One NSCN (IM) cadre apprehend

Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): Security forces in a joint operation with Police apprehended a cadre of NSCN (IM) from general area Diphupar under Dimapur district April 24. “Based on a specific input, Security Forces in a joint operation with State Police apprehended a cadre of NSCN (IM) and recovered 800 gms Opium worth Rs 13 lakh from Diphupar, Dimapur District, Nagaland,” a press release from the HQ IGAR (N) stated on Monday. The apprehended individual along with the recovered items has been handed over to Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.

GPRN/NSCN mourns demise of members

Dimapur, April 26 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has mourned the demise of its members Viniho Achumi (Deputy Kilonser) who passed away on April 24 and Henito Aye (Leacy) who passed away on April 25. In a condolence message, the GPRN/NSCN’s Ministry of Information and Publicity stated that Viniho Achumi joined the national service and served for 21 years while Henito Aye served for 26 years. “They were true assets known not only for their valour and dedication to their services but were also compassionate and admirable gentlemen,” the condolence message read. Their service and legacy for the cause of the Naga nation is very much honored and will be fondly remembered and recorded in the pages of the Naga history, it added. It conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
