One arrested with weapons in Peren 

Peren, April 13 (MExN): The Assam Rifles PRO, HQ IGAR (N) reported on Tuesday that based on a “specific input,” security forces in a joint operation with state police apprehended an individual and recovered one point 22 Rifle with Magazine, one 12 Bore Rifle and nineteen 12 Bore live cartridges near Kejanglwa, Peren district on April 13. “The apprehended individual has been handed over to Jalukie Police Station, Peren for further investigation,” the PRO informed. 

NSCN (IM) mourns demise of Sh Shongsir Monsang

Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has grieved the untimely demise of Sh Shongsir Monsang, Khapur on April 13. He was from Japhou village under Khurmi region and enrolled in the Naga national service in 2017. “For his selfless contributions to the Naga national cause, his name shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and his sacrifice for the Naga nation shall ever be cherished by all,” said a condolence message issued by NSCN (IM) through its MIP. It also conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for the spirit to rest in eternal peace. 

NLA Public Accounts Committee calls meeting 

Kohima, April 13 (MExN): Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Nagaland Legislative Assembly and Advisor School Education KT Sukhalu has convened the introductory -cum-oral evidence meeting of the Committee for the examination of the report of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India for the year 2017-2018 on April 20, 21 and 22.
On April 20, the meeting will start at 10:30 am and on other days at 11:00 am in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat. 
The Committee will take oral evidence through those three days, on the audit para(s) of the following Departments: State Finances; Planning & Coordination; Health & Family Welfare; Horticulture; Agriculture; Youth Resources and Sports; Fisheries & Aquatic Resources; Public Works (Roads & Bridges); Rural Development; Power; Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services; Nagaland Bio-Resource Mission; Nagaland Beekeeping & Honey Mission; School Education; Land Resources; Soil & Water Conservation; Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection; Revenue; Taxation; Treasuries & Accounts; and the Environment, Forest & Climate Change.  All members of the Committee have been requested to attend the meeting. 

ED searches 7 locations of hawala operators in Tripura, seizes cash

New Delhi, April 13 (IANS): The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday said that it has carried out searches at seven locations in Tripura related to hawala operators and seized cash to the tune of Rs 80 lakh as well as 30 lakh Bangladeshi Taka.
An ED official here said that the financial probe agency, in a joint operation with Tripura Police, carried out searches at seven locations in west Agartala and Sonamura area.
He said that the agency's searches were carried under sections of the FEMA based on the intelligence inputs of foreign hawala transactions provided by Tripura Police.
"During search operation, cash amounting to Rs 80 lakh and 30 lakh Bangladeshi Taka found to be involved in hawala transactions have been seized under the FEMA," he said, adding that other incriminating documents relating to hawala transactions were also seized for scrutiny and examination.

Meeting on implementation of work plan held in Kohima

Kohima, April 13 (MExN): A review meeting on all the departmental activities and implementation of work-plan 2020-21 was held at DC Conference Hall, Kohima on April 13. Chairing the meeting, a DIPR report said that Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawellie requested all concerned departments to give due attention in working out a plan for the next five years on various departmental activities for a fruitful development. He asked those departments that are yet to give a presentation on the implementation of works done to highlight their presentation in the next meeting. The meeting also discussed preparation of five-year proposal under National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) for Kohima city.

Active COVID-19 cases in Nagaland increases to 174

With the detection of 11 new COVID-19 cases, the total number of active cases in Nagaland has gone up to 174.
According to an update from State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom, 11 new cases were detected on Tuesday, out of which 7 were in Dimapur, 2 in Kohima and 1 each in Phek and Wokha respectively.
Meanwhile, 2 recoveries in Kohima and 1 in Dimapur were reported on April 13.
The tally of COVID-19 infections in the State till date is 12,427 while the total recovery is 11,995.
