Kohima, December 28 (MExN): The office of the Angami Students' Union (ASU) will remain close from December 23 to January 13, 2025 on account of the festive season and shall resume on January 14, 2025. However, for any urgent matters or pertinent issues, the office may be contacted. Muivah mourns passing of former MLA Bendangangshi Ao
Dimapur, December 28 (MExN): Ato Kilonser of the NSCN (IM), Th Muivah has expressed sorrow over the demise of Bendangangshi Ao, a former Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and a prominent figure in the Naga movement. In a condolence message, the Ato Kilonser described Bendangangshi Ao as a man of integrity and a dedicated son of the Naga nation. “He embodied a steadfast commitment to the Naga national spirit and the movement,” the statement read. The Ato Kilonser highlighted Bendangangshi Ao’s active role in Naga consultative meetings, both at home and abroad. His contributions, particularly his insightful suggestions and opinions, were noted as having shaped critical decisions for the Naga cause. Extending condolences to the bereaved family and friends, he prayed for the leader’s eternal peace and strength for those mourning his loss.
Nagaland Tribal Youth Org condemns
Kohima, December 28 (MExN): The Coordination Committee of Nagaland Tribal Youth Organisation (NTYO) is deeply perturbed by the extortion act of NSCN/GPRN (Khango) for serving a demand notice of Rs 50 lakh to Aolemba Longkumer, a resident of 7th Mile Chümoukedima and a renowned entrepreneur by profession. ‘This culture of threat and intimidation has no place in a civilised society and the NTYO vehemently condemns the shameless nature of the self styled group in the highest term,” according to NTYO convenor Vetho Vadeo and co-convenor RN David Magh. The Coordination Committee of the NTYO stated that the organization is committed to maintaining peace and tranquility and “shall remain steadfast in its fight against any form of illegal taxation or extortion.” Meanwhile, the Committee urged the law enforcing agencies to book the culprits at the earliest and ensure security and safety of Aolemba Longkumer as “his right to personal life and liberty has been hampered by the demand and threat notice.”
NPCC mourns
Kohima, December 28 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) mourned the passing of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, a visionary leader, an economist par excellence, and a statesman of impeccable integrity. Under his Prime Ministership from 2004 to 2014, he led the Nation into a formidable political and economic power, with policies that were nothing short of revolutionary in its daring foresightedness while ensuring that the socio-economically unempowered half of the population remained an equitable partner in this shared journey of prosperity and modernity, the NPCC stated. His passing is an irreparable loss to the nation and his exceptional legacy will continue to influence and inspire the Nation for generations to come. The NPCC extended its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones. May his soul rest in eternal peace, according to a release issued by Communications Department, NPCC.
