NSCN (IM) issues statement on man who undertook ‘peace march’
Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on December 19 issued a statement on YS Mashungmi, the man who recently undertook a ‘peace march’ carrying the Indian and Nagaland flags. In a statement issued by is MIP, the NSCN (IM) stated that Mashungmi is “a bona fide cadre of National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN)” and that he undertook the ‘peace march’ without taking the authority into confidence. “Such a one man operation with sensitive political implication is not authorized by NSCN,” it asserted and added that the venture amounts to violation of disciplinary code of conduct, “no matter how patriotic it may appear.” Security implication was also taken into account to abort his peace-march midway, the NSCN (IM) stated. It also informed that Mashungmi is being “debriefed to establish the idea behind his peace march.”
Niki Sumi elected as NSCN/GPRN President
Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN has unanimously elected Gen (retired) Niki Sumi as its President during a plenary meeting of the council of kilonsers and high ranking officers of the People’s Army of Nagaland (PAN) on December 18. Informing this in a press release on Saturday, the NSCN/GPRN MIP Deputy Kilonser Nikato Pilot Sumi stated that Gen (Retd) Niki Sumi’s name was proposed for the post of President by its General Secretary/ Ato Kilonser Starson Lamkang Naga and seconded by Kilonser Asang. “After due deliberations as per the laid down provisions in the Yehzabo, the house unanimously elected General (Retd) Niki Sumi as the President of NSCN/GPRN,” the release stated. The meeting concluded with a mass prayer led by Brigadier Ghoheto, it added.
School Education dept reiterates on ‘Gurushala Training’
Kohima, December 19 (MExN): In continuation of Directorate of School Education office notification issued on December 2, the Principal Director School Education, Shanavas C, on Saturday notified that all teachers serving in government schools throughout the State “shall get themselves registered at the ‘Gurushala Teacher Training’ link provided at the Teachers’ App or at DoSE Online Education Services Portal (https://dosenl.in) before the extended last date of 6th January 2021.” Teachers currently undergoing B.Ed/D. El. Ed courses and those on maternity/earned leave during the period January – March 2021 shall alone be exempted from attending the Gurushala Teacher Training, the notification stated. Head of Institutions of all government schools have been directed to ensure that all teachers serving in their schools register for the programme without fail. “All DEOs, Sr SDEOs and SDEOs shall submit details of teachers not registered for the programme to the undersigned on or before 11th January 2021,” it added.
ZYS informs on Golden Jubilee programme
Kohima, December 19 (MExN): The Zheri Youth Society (ZYS), Z Khel, Viswema will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee on January 5, 2021 at Yoho Kita, Viswema. Rüsovil John, IFS (Rsd), Chairman, Nagaland Control Board will be the Speaker. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the organizing committee conveyed regret for its inability to invite every member of the society to the programme. Accordingly, it extended invitation to only one member from each family as representative. Nongozol Pucho, Convenor, Publicity & Information Committee, Zheri Youth Society, Golden Jubilee requested everyone attending the programme to wear one traditional attire and also strictly adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviors and wear masks.
Wokha: Joint operation on trafficking of pharma drugs
Wokha, December 19 (MExN): The Wokha District Administration along with Police and the Drug Inspector conducted a joint operation on trafficking of pharma drugs within Wokha Town on December 19. The operation was done in response to the call of Narcotic- Control Bureau, MHA to observe Anti-Drug Drive week, with effect from December 15 to 22, a DIPR report informed. During the drive, several bottles of cough syrup containing Codeine Phosphate were seized from different pharmacies. Accordingly, the defaulters have been forwarded to the competent authority for further necessary action, the report added.
60th LSU General Session held
Phek, December 19 (MExN): The Leshemi Students' Union (LSU) held its 60th General Session under the theme ‘Inspire Aspire Achieve’ on December 19 at Leshemi Village with Wekupe Losou as Guest Speaker. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Khroteü Lasushe, while welcome song was presented by LSU executives. Presidential address was delivered by outgoing LSU President Melute Lomi and General Secretary report was delivered by Khroteü Lasushe. Lt Medikhrü Meritorious Award was also awarded during the session. Vikedou Thahu, VDB Secy Leshemi Village exhorted the gathering while Wecheü Thahu proposed words of gratitude. Wekhrotso Sara was elected as the new President and Welo Lasushe as Vice President for the tenure 2021-2022. Lhiwe Lomi was elected as General Secretary along with other office bearers.
NNC (PB) extends season’s greetings
Dimapur, December 19 (MExN): The Naga National Council (NNC) Parent Body (PB) on Saturday extended Christmas and New Year greetings. Yilow Humtsoe, Acting President of the NNC PB in his message conveyed the greetings on behalf of the NNC to “all the Naga people in the homeland, abroad and the people who live amongst us in our land.” “…May everyone have a joyful and peaceful Christmas and a rejuvenated and prosperous New Year,” the message stated. The NNC also reiterated the Naga people’s sovereign stand of 1929 memorandum submitted to the British Government and consequently the 1935 Act called Naga Hills Excluded Area passed by the House of Lords (United Kingdom Parliament). It stated that the declaration of Naga Independence on August 14, 1947 was acknowledged by the United Nations Organisation, and the Plebiscite conducted on May 16, 1951 (Referendum) declared 99.9% voted in favour of Naga Independence. “These are sovereign rights of the Nagas resolutely declared by the Naga people and known by the entire world and this is our future,” it added. Further, the NNC asserted its stand for the ‘whole of Naga people for peaceful solution of the Naga Political problem.’
