Mishilimi village bans hunting, fishing
Kohima, December 27 (MExN): The Mishilimi Village Council has resolved to ban all types of hunting and fishing within the jurisdiction of Mishilimi village with effect from January 1, 2021 to December 30, 2021.
In a press release on Sunday, the Council informed the public of Mishilimi village and its neighboring villages that the ban has been put in place to mark the celebration of 100 years of Christianity.
The village will be celebrating the centenary jubilee on December 21, 2021.
In this connection, the Mishilimi Village Council has warned all concerned that anyone found violating this resolution would be penalized as per the law of the land, the release stated.
PSU appeals contractors for quality workmanship
Meluri, December 27 (MExN): The Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) officials and its units recently had a joint meeting with the contractor of the ongoing road maintenance works extending from Akash Bridge to Akhegwo.
In the meeting, the members deliberated on various issues related to the developmental projects within Pochury jurisdiction and appealed the concerned contractor for quality workmanship and to follow all the specifications, a press release from the PSU Media Cell stated. The contractors unconditionally assured of the same, it added.
Further, the Pochury Students’ Union informed the contractors that the student body and the citizens would not compromise on the quality of works and would closely monitor all the developmental activities carried out within Pochury jurisdiction. Therefore, the Union appealed to all the contractors of ongoing works/projects to follow all the specifications and provide the best for the public, it added.
Unidentified dead body found in Dimapur
Dimapur, December 27 (MExN): Dimapur Police on December 23, found an unidentified body of a male, aged around 60-65 years approximately at Dimapur Railway station auto parking area. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body was shifted to District Hospital Dimapur for post mortem examination / identification. The deceased was wearing black pant, green sweater, blue socks and brown cap, the ADCP/PRO Dimapur Police informed in a press release. Claimant/ relatives/ friends of the deceased have been requested to contact Officer-in-Charge /GRPS, Dimapur.
PSU’s 62nd seminar on Dec 29
Kohima, December 27 (MExN): The Phek Students’ Union (PSU) will be holding its 62nd seminar (session) on December 29 at Phek village under the theme ‘Committed to excellence.’ MLA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu will be the guest speaker. The resource persons will include; Zavekho Vero, RO (Establishment) SP Office, Phek and Er Nuthozo Chizo, Junior Engineer (Electrical), who will speak on the topics ‘Education is not a vessel but to be ignited,’ and ‘An approach to career planning and competitive exams’ respectively. Phek village council chairman Chivozo Soho will share greetings and Thupukhruyi Venuh, headmaster, Government High School, Phek village will also exhort the gathering.
Bank of Maharashtra opens new branch in Kohima
Kohima, December 27 (MExN): Bank of Maharashtra (BOM) one of the major public sector banks in India, opened its Kohima branch office on December 23.
The branch, located at New Secretariat road, was inaugurated by Advisor for Urban development & Municipal Affairs Dr Neikiesalie (Nicky) Kire as the special guest.
During the launch, Dr Nicky observed that ‘some banks are very rude to the customers’ and as such, requested all the employees of BOM to be public friendly.
Delivering the welcome address and highlighting on the functioning of BOM, Kohima branch manager Eugene O'Hara Lotha informed that BOM is a major public sector bank in India which was founded 85 years ago with a tag line 'One Family One Bank'. Lotha informed that the Government of India holds 82% of the share and the BOM so far has 16 million customers across the country with 1,859 branches in India.
He said it is the 5th performing and leading bank among the nationalized banks in India. Kohima branch is the 49th branch of Kolkata zone and the second branch to be opened in Nagaland. The programme was chaired by Walter Yanthan while Rev Fr Richard Fernandes, Parish Priest, St Francis De Sales Church, Kohima dedicated the new BOM branch. Vote of thanks was delivered by Thohrü Ashulü Poji, Deputy Branch Manager BOM while Viluo Angami, Asst Pastor, CR Mission Church, Kohima pronounced the benediction.
Rural Haat inaugurated in Nihokhu
Dimapur, December 27 (MExN): A marketing shed at Nihokhu village in Niuland Block, Dimapur was inaugurated by NABARD DGM SC Sahoo in the presence of S Hrangkhol, AGM, NABARD, and Rahul Tiwari, DA, NABARD. According to a press release received here today, the Nihokhu Marketing Shed was funded by NABARD’s Gramya Vikas Nidhi and will benefit nearly 10,000 rural people from around 8-10 nearby villages, by being a platform for them to sell their produce. Er Ahoto Sema, Head GB, SE PWD (R&B) Government of Nagaland, Pastor of NBC Rev Luhevi Zhimo, VCM Dr Vekuto Muru, and the local villagers were also present during the programme, the release stated.
