
2nd edition of Great Hornbill Adventure Trail cancelled
Kohima, December 6 (MExN): The Nagaland Adventure Club (NAC) has informed participants, patrons, co-host and villages that the 2nd edition of Great Hornbill Adventure Trail 2021, scheduled for December 7 to 9 has been cancelled due to the situation arising from the killing of civilians in Mon district of Nagaland by the Indian army special forces and in showing our respect for the grieving Naga public. “It is a time for mourning and not for recreational activities,” the club cited in a press release while condemning the act of the para-commandos of the Indian army. NAC has also requested all concerned to bear with the inconveniences caused especially the GoN, Nagaland Tourism, participants and host villages Kijümetouma, Ruzazho, Hebolimi and Lazami. “NAC is a responsible club and we assure that we will fulfill all expectations under better times and normal circumstances,” added.
Exams in Mon dist postponed
Mon, December 6 (MExN): In consideration of the Prohibitory Order No.CON/L&O/2016 Dated, 5th December 2021 issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Mon due to the prevailing situation in Mon District, the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has informed that examinations to be conducted from December 6 onwards in all government and private schools (State Board, CBSE) functioning within Mon District has been postponed till further orders. Further directives regarding rescheduling of the examinations will be issued in due course of time.
WADSA postpones Stone Pulling Ceremony
Kohima, December 6 (MExN): In solidarity with the 15 precious lives blatantly killed by the paramilitary forces at Oting, Mon district, the Western Angami D' Sports Association (WADSA) has decided to postpone the Stone Pulling Ceremony which is scheduled on December 7 at Peducha (Kiruphema). The rescheduled date for the ceremony will be notified later, the association informed in a press release. The WADSA also extended their support to the Konyak brethren and the ENPO family at this hour of grief and sorrow and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members and pray for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace.
Traffic regulation along NH-29 cancelled
In supersession to the earlier circular, regarding the alternate route for vehicular movement along National Highway 29 on December 7 from 07:30 AM to 02:00 PM, due to the rescheduling of the Stone Pulling Ceremony, the traffic advisory previously issued stands cancelled. This circular issued by Deputy Commissioner Kohima stated that all normal vehicular movement along the stretch of road from Theja Service Station, Kohima to Peducha village may resume as usual.
Welfare of PWDs in Mon under current situation
Mon, December 6 (MExN): Diethono Nakhro, State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities has stated that persons with disabilities are always the worst affected in any situation of instability in the community.
She urged the people to take necessary steps to ensure that persons with disabilities and their families in Oting village, Mon Town, and the entire Mon District are safe and their needs are taken care of during this situation following the tragic event in Oting village.
In this regard, the District Level Committee on Disability may take charge and do the needful. Disabled People's Organisations, Disabled Parents Organisations and other NGOs in the sector may also be roped in together and impart information and take action where necessary in coordination with the District Administration.
