Flex banners, boards, posters banned in govt functions
KOHIMA, DECEMBER 18 (MExN): The Urban Development Department has banned the use of flex banners, boards or posters by departments, institutions or government agencies in government offices during functions, programmes, etc. A report from the DIPR stated that this is in line with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change order. Flex banners, boards and posters are made up of Poly-Vinyl-Chlorides (PVC), a plastic polymer, which is a non-biodegradable material and if burned releases harmful toxins and gets bio-accumulated in the food chain of ecosystem causing serious hazards to human health and environment. The notification further stated that use of eco-friendly materials such as cloth banners, light weight textile fabrics, wrinkle resistant wrap knit, natural-fibre based sandwich boards, resin-infused papers, particle boards, etc may be encouraged to combat plastic pollution in the State. The order informed all AHoDs and HoDs to disseminate this directive to all the district offices, institutions and agencies as well for strict compliance.
Ban on logging vehicles lifted in Mhainamtsi
Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): The Mhainamtsi Village Council has informed that the ban on plying of logging vehicles through Mhainamtsi village has been suspended temporarily till further notice. This notice was issued after a series of discussions and meetings held with the stakeholders, MVC Chairperson Miucham and Secretary Bekam informed in a press release on Friday. While no other details were mentioned in the release, referring to the ‘hit and run’ case on December 10, it stated that “the search operation to nab the culprit of the 'hit and run' vehicle will continue.”
Midland bags KMC Cleanest Ward Award 2020
Kohima, December 18 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) today announced the winners of the annual inter ward & shops cleanliness competition 2020. Midland ward bagged the cleanest ward award 2020 while Kitsubozou ward and Daklane ward stood second and third position respectively. Cleanest shops award 2020: Ist- Choice Blossom, Old Taxi stand, 2nd- Sote Electronics Centre, Old Taxi stand and 3rd- Aman Grocery shop- Upper Agri. KMC administrator Kovi Meyase informed all the winners to collect the trophies and certificates from KMC office during office hours.
ZUF urges Nagas to cooperate with GoI and WC, NNPGs
Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has appealed the Zeliangrong people and the Naga public to extend cooperation to achieve the common goal/solution as agreed upon between the Government of India and the Working Committee, NNPGs. In a press release issued by the Secretary, Ministry of Information and Publicity, Hozam Thaimei, it said that the ZUF had entered into an alliance with the WC, NNPGs, to further the political objective and future of the Zeliangrong people. It said that the WC, NNPGs had organized several consultative meetings with public leaders, social workers, intellectuals, villages, church leaders and CSOs of Zeliangrong community in Manipur, besides meeting public leaders of other Naga tribes. Stating that ZUF Chairperson Raitu Chawang and members of WC, NNPGs had highlighted the progress of the Indo-Naga peace process and “rubbished the aggressive and false propaganda of NSCN (IM) that NNPGs is only for Nagas of Nagaland,” it said that leaders and intellectuals shared their views during the meetings and expressed support for early Indo-Naga solution after witnessing the competencies of NNPGs in detail.
