Kohima Police informs 

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): In view of the Kohima Smart City Development Limited’s “Street for People Challenge” program scheduled on November 14, the stretch from Razhu Point to Local ground (North Gate) has been reserved as Pedestrian Friendly Space. The mentioned stretch will be designated as ‘No Entry’ for vehicles from 5:00 am to 5:00 pm on November 14 to facilitate conduct of the program, Kohima Police informed. Owners of vehicles permanently parked in the designated area are requested to remove their vehicles before 5:00 am on the same day. “Defaulting vehicles will be towed away and towing charges will be borne by the owner of the vehicle,” Kohima Police stated while requesting the general public to comply with the order. 

Co-ordination meeting held in Meluri 

Meluri, November 12 (MExN): Co-ordination meeting of government departments, CSOs and NGOs under Meluri Sub-division for empowerment  of people's  rights and entitlements through constitutional provision was organised  by NBCC and PBCC in partnership  with Nagaland  Development  Outreach  and in collaboration  with administration department Meluri, supported  by Church Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA) on November 12 at Pochury Hoho conference hall. ADC Meluri Chuba Temjen in his speech focused on fundamental rights and directive principles of state policy of the Indian constitution. Various departmental heads who dwelt on the people's rights and entitlements in the concerned respective department, included SMO, Dr. Chukhusie CHC Meluri, SDAO Lisütho Phoji, CDPO Porütho and Raso SIS on behalf of educational department. SOWSORD Director Moses T Fithu highlighted on the concept of the programme.

DMC penalizes butchers selling meat above prescribed rate

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Market Rate Control Cell conducted a surprise checking of all the butchers under DMC jurisdiction on November 12. According to a press release issued by Albert Ezung, Administrator, DMC, during the checking, the officials on duty found that some of butchers were selling the meat above the DMC prescribed rate. In this connection, the butchers were caught and imposed penalty with fine and further necessary action. The DMC administrator has directed all the butchers to sell the meat at the prescribed rate as fixed by this office. 

Gorkha NGOs of Kohima appeals

Kohima, November 12 (MExN): The Gorkha NGOs of Kohima during a joint meeting held on November 10 resolved to appeal the members of the Gorkha community of Kohima district not to organise Bhailo/Deusi (Carol) during Diwali (Tihar) in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The appeal has been made to discourage gathering of people in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Government to curb the spread of virus and requested the members to concentrate their celebrations within their own houses.
