ANCSU 2nd Union Assembly on Nov 4
Kohima, October 22 (MExN): All Nagaland College Students' Union (ANCSU) has informed all its affiliated and associate units that the 2nd Union Assembly will be held on November 4 at Dimapur Government College, Dimapur. The assembly will begin at 11:30 am. Therefore, all the units are requested to send one representatives without fail. Strict SOP should be maintained, the Union stated in a press release.
Dog meat banned in Longleng
Longleng, October 22 (MExN): Ban of dog meat at Longleng town has been prohibited/banned with immediate effect. Non-compliance to the order shall invite strict action as per existing provisions/laws, an order stated here.
DPDB Noklak inaugural on Oct 27
Noklak, October 22 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Noklak, Reny Wilfred, IAS in a meeting circular stated that, the inaugural meeting of District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Noklak has been scheduled on October 27 at 11:00 am at DC Conference Hall. DC has requested all Heads of Departments/Officers in-charge for Noklak to make it convenient to attend the meeting positivity. The meeting being the DPDB inaugural, it is solicited that all concerned members may grace the meeting and accord its deserved status.
MP Kenye addresses DELHI meeting in Phek
Phek, October 22 (MExN): KG Kenye, MP Rajya and Co-Chairman DISHA Nagaland who is also the Parliamentary Standing Committee Member on Food, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Consultative Committee Member on Rural Development addressed the District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee (DELHI) meeting at Phek on October 21. He called upon the District Officers to take defined role while serving the people in the District. The MP also urged the officers to utilise the opportunity and implement effectively the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). Recalling the popular VDB programme conceptualised by AM Gokhale while serving as the Deputy Commissioner Phek, he made an appeal to all Officers to set good footprints.
NIIT Dimapur informs
Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): NIIT Dimapur Center has informed that classes will remain suspended from October 23 to 26 on account of Durga Puja and Dusshera celebrations. Classes will resume from October 27. The centre also wished that “the festivities will mark the beginning of better & brighter days for all the citizens of Nagaland.” Further, the NIITians who have not resumed their online classes etc are informed to contact the center for their classes, exams, books, certificates, placements etc.
NLA informs on LFA program
Kohima, October 22 (MExN): Commissioner & Secretary Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Dr PJ Antony has informed that the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat will be organizing a function to commend the services of the Legislators' Forum on AIDS (LFA) which had wound up its functioning formally in June, 2020. The function to be chaired by the Speaker NLA, Sharingain Longkumer will be held on October 23 at 11:00 am in the Conference Hall of the Assembly Secretariat, Kohima. Minister for Planning & Co-ordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu and former Speaker and Member of the Assembly, Dr Chotisuh Sazo will be the guests of honour at the programme.
NPCC greets on Durga Puja festival
Kohima, October 22 (MExN): On account of Durga Puja festival, K Therie, President, NPCC in a press release said, “As our Hindu brothers and sisters celebrate the festival of Durga Puja, an inseparable part of Indian culture, I bring warm greetings from NPCC.” He stated that Durga Puja not only epitomizes the victory of good over evil but also celebrates the power behind life and creation. NPF Minority Wing brings festive greeting
Dimapur, October 22 (MExN): NPF Minority Wing has extended Durga Puja and Navaratri greetings to the people of Nagaland and neighbouring area. “May this kind of celebrations bring greater peace and happiness to everyone and strengthen the prevailing social and cultural harmony in our state and the nation as a whole,” Minority Wing (NPF), Central, President Bishnu Bhattacharjee stated in a press note.
WDCC&I directs on HIV/AIDS awareness
Wokha, October 22 (MExN): The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WDCC&I) has directed all business establishments in Wokha to get print HIV/AIDS awareness message as ‘HIV/AIDS is a Virus. It has no race, gender or age’ in every cash memo. WDCC&I Press Secretary, Abenthung Kikon in a press release stated that this was directed as per request letter through the Office of Wokha Chief Medical Officer, district AIDS prevention and control unit.
Wokha Police apprehends two drug peddlers
Wokha, October 22 (MExN): Acting on specific input, the Wokha Police led by SDPO and O/C Wokha Police Station apprehended two drug peddlers and recovered 19 grams of suspected Brown Sugar, 649 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 70 tablets of nitrozepam and 280 tablets of Alprozelom on October 22. In this connection, two persons have been arrested from Wokha town, identified as Lichumo Ezung (33 years) and Ethel Humtsoe (38 years). Two separate cases has been registered vide Wokha PS/Case NO 42/2020 and case NO 43/2020 under relevant Sections of Law for further investigation.
Mon DPDB meeting held
Mon, October 22 (MExN): Mon District Planning Board meeting was held at DRDA conference hall Mon on October 21 under the chairmanship of Chairman DPDB, Thongwang Konyak MLA. The MLA expressed concern on employee absentees and advised all to take collective responsibility for the district. Agenda discussed included registration of Yeinyak welfare society in Yei village, augmentation and retrofitting of drinking water supply to Yakshu village by gravity system with functional household tap connection under Jal Jeevan mission 2019-2020 in Mon district, proposal for approval of district specific study for the year 2020-2021, filling up the general secretary and assistant general secretary post for OCM, collection of yearly membership fee and one time registration fee from new members including 2019 collection.
