
Small arms firing in Kohima
Kohima, September 28 (MExN): DC Kohima has informed the concerned villages and all the Ward Panchayat and Colony under Kohima Town that the Assam Rifles will be conducting small arms firing with effect from October 1 to 31 at Firing Range Kohima Garrison. He has informed all concerned to not enter the Firing Range nor take their cattle grazing near the Firing Range during the mentioned period.
NSCN (IM) mourns
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has condoled the demise of T Lemba, Razou Peyu of GPRN from Longtang village under Chang Region on September 27 after a brief illness. He joined the Naga national service on June 4, 2004. The MIP in a press note stated that he served the nation with loyalty and dedication till his last breath. “We express regret that the Naga nation has lost a precious son. His tireless service rendered to the nation shall be cherished. We express our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and share the pain. It is our prayers that the Almighty God will give them the strength and solace to overcome the tragedy,” it stated.
Rh Raising condole demise of Maj Retd Rangpong Hakhun
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): NSCN (IM) member collective leadership, Rh Raising has condoled the demise of Maj Retd Rangpong Hakhun, Kilonser, GPRN from Pangmi Region who passed away in Assam on September 26 last. He left behind his wife and four children. The condolence note stated that he joined the Naga national service with full commitment and served the nation with unwavering patriotism until his demise. ‘His demise has left a vacuum which will be difficult to fill. His integrity and the spirit to serve the Naga people shall always be remembered. He left behind a legacy to be cherished by all,’ Raising stated. “I on behalf of the GPRN offer prayers to the Almighty God to comfort the near and dear ones of Maj. Retd. Rangpon Hakhun. May his soul rest in eternal peace!” he added.
Dimapur Excise penalises 26 under NLTP Act
Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Dimapur district Excise duty party undertook intensive routine checking at various locations within Dimapur town. In this connection, commendable detections and seizures were reported. A total of 508 bottles/cans of assorted IMFL and 755 ltrs of Country liquor (destroyed on the spot) were seized. Further, 26 accused were arrested and penalised under relevant sections of the NLTP Act, 1989. “It may also be informed that the concern authority will continue to undertake such intensive routine checking and raids within its jurisdiction every now and then,” stated a press release issued by Tokuho Assumi, Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition, Dimapur.
Durga Puja and Navaratri greetings
Kohima, September 28 (MExN): Naga Peoples Front Minority Wing has extended Durga Puja and Navaratri greetings to the people of Nagaland and neighbouring area. “Navaratri, Durga Puja and Dashera are not only a festival but also it is a major socio-cultural event celebrated in all corner of our country and abroad with great enthusiasm, solidarity and gaiety,” the Minority Wing, Central (NPF) Nagaland stated in its press release. “May this kind of celebrations bring greater peace and happiness to one and all, and strengthen the prevailing social and cultural harmony in our beautiful state and the nation as a whole,” they added.
