The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Mon had organized child rights arts/poster competition in commemoration of Child Rights Week under the theme ‘Education is the most powerful weapon to transform society.’ District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) Samuel Kapu informed that the competition was held on November 15 at Langsa Hill Children’s Home, Mon. The competition was held for categories- Class LKG to 6; Class 6-7 and Class 8-9 respectively and winners were awarded with attractive prizes.

Delegates and concerned citizens from Non-Naga Minority Community visited residence of Dr S C Jamir, four times Governor and former CM of Nagaland on November 15. The team congratulated Dr Jamir on receiving the Padma Bhushan from government of India for his distinguished service in the field of public affairs. During short interaction, Dr Jamir thanked the team members and discussed on various developmental policies and future prospective of all the citizens of North East. Mother Heart Skool programme organised by Tuensang Town Baptist Lashong (TTBL) was conducted by Frontline Ministries on the theme ‘Touching One Heart, One Mother One Family At A Time’ at TTBL, Tuensang from November 11 to 14. Rev Dr Toshi Langu was the director of the programme and the facilitators were Limala Pongen and Dr Bendangyapangla Changkiri. Photography and designing was done by Imkongsashi. Altogether 30 mothers graduated from this program.

As part of ongoing Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC-38) of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy NCC, Kohima held at Kohima College from November 8, participating NCC cadets witnessed Weapon and Band Display which was organised under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) by 1 Assam Rifles, Lushai Battalion at Kohima on November 13. Approximately 120 NCC cadets from both Senior Division of 24 Nagaland (I) Coy and senior wings of 1 Naga Girls Bn of Kohima NCC Group participated in the Weapon and Band Display. Zhaleo Rio, IAS (Retd), Advisor on Minority Affairs, Nagaland, called on Union Minister of Minority Affairs, Muktar Abbas Naqvi at the office chamber of the latter in New Delhi on November 16. The Advisor apprised him on various infrastructure development needs in Nagaland including declaration of ‘Minority Blocks’ in all districts of the state as Niuland is the only approved Minority Community Block till date. The Union Minister assured to consider the request at the earliest.
