Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) during 3rd phase of agitation against the slow progress, non- maintenance and delay in construction of 2 lane NH 29(KJ II) by NHIDCL and EPC Contractor RIPPL on May 17. The Union hoisted black flags on cars travelling along NH 29 as symbolic protest at Pfutsero.

Kohima Law College conducted a moot court session as part of the practical training for 6th semester students, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Kekhriesilie Richa on May 16. The exercise aimed to provide final-year law students with hands-on advocacy training, enhancing their practical understanding of courtroom procedures and legal argumentation. A tree plantation drive was carried out today at the newly inaugurated Chedema village twin gate. The drive was organised by the NPF Chedema Unit. Former MLA Khriehu Liezietsu contributed seeds of pine trees for the initiative, aimed at enhancing the natural surroundings of the gate and promoting environmental awareness. Local volunteers joined hands to plant saplings, with organisers describing the initiative as a significant move towards creating a greener and more welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.Mokokchung district observed World Hypertension Day under the theme ‘Measure your blood pressure accurately, control it, live longer’ at the CMO conference hall and in all the health units on May 17. Dr Limanaro DPO (UIP&RCH) highlighted the importance on the awareness of accurate blood pressure management, causes and risk factor that leads to high blood pressure and how to prevent it in order to lead a healthy life. A month long NCD screening campaign will be conducted throughout the Mokokchung District from May 17 to June 16. All the public have been informed to avail the services at the nearest health unit during special screening drive. District Health Society, Peren observed World Hypertension Day under the theme ‘Measure your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Longer’ at Samzuiram Village on May 16. Dr Viholi, ZLO, Peren emphasised on diabetes its risk factor and prevention control. She also highlighted about hypertension about its symptoms and treatment. A total of 46 persons were screened for Blood Sugar, BP and was given counselling for health promotion and prevention of NCD.
