The National Oral Health Programme, Mon district observed Children Dental Health Month with Sunday school children at Konyak Baptist Church, Mon on May 19. During the program, Dr Esther Chophy Ngulli spoke on the importance of oral health. In order to maintain good oral hygiene, she encouraged the children to brush twice a day, limit sugar intake, to eat fruits and vegetables and to avoid tobacco products. Brushing techniques were demonstrated by Dr Lihngam Konyak, Jr Dental Surgeon, DH Mon. Free toothbrushes and toothpastes were also given to all the children, IEC materials on oral health were also distributed. The program was attended by around 370 children along with the teachers.

The Baptist Church Chiechama, in collaboration with Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima organised a free health camp for senior citizens, age 60 years and above at Chiechama village on May19. More than 100 people availed the free health check-up, 70% of whom were above 70 years, oldest being 95 years of age. The health camp offered basic diagnostic tests like blood check for diabetes, blood pressure check & 2D echocardiography for heart disease, ultrasound examination, with free medicines including injections and minor procedures. Under the banner of HOPE (Health Outreach Programme & Education) initiative of Putuonuo Hospital, 7 doctors along with 10 nurses, paramedical staff and volunteers participated in the programme. The HOPE initiative aims to reach out to the vulnerable population groups such as the elderly, where accessing healthcare remains a challenge.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQSC), Sao Chang College, observed ‘International Museum Day’ on May 18 by launching the Tribal Museum catalogue titled, “Connecting with Local Communities.” While launching the catalogue, Longtichang Tzudir, Vice Principal spoke briefly on the theme of International Museum Day  ‘Sustainability And Well-Being’ focussing on how museums contribute to the sustainable development of communities and the well-being of individuals. He expressed his appreciation to the department of history for their efforts in taking up the initiative in compiling the artefacts which is dedicated to enhance communication between museums and local communities. The catalogue will also serve as a resource for the museum, offering practical tools and inspiration to enhance community engagement efforts. The brief programme was attended by faculty of History department and IQAC members, Sao Chang College.

Research and Development Cell, Unity College in collaboration with Dimapur Government College organised a ‘One Day Workshop on Research Writing and Ethics’ on May 17 for the post graduate students. The resource persons were Dr Vinyuhu Lhoungu, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Dimapur Government College and Dr Hare Krushna Parhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, Dimapur Government College.
