The Student Council of Baptist College, Kohima organized an orientation programme for the class representatives of BA/B.Com 1st, 3rd and 5th semesters for the tenure 2024-2025 on July 16 at Rivenburgs Memorial Hall, Kohima under the theme “Lead with Vision, Inspire with Action.” Dr Kewepfuzu Lohe, Interim Principal of Baptist College, Kohima, highlighted the distinction between positional and functional leaders, urging everyone to strive for the latter. Seyiesilie Vüprü, Convener of the Student Council, outlined the roles and responsibilities of the CRs. Kihitoli A Kiho, President of the Student Council delivered welcome address.

North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR) organised an induction programme for the Bachelor of Social Work batch of 2024-2027 from July 9 to 22. Dr CP Anto, Principal, NEISSR, inaugurated the programme with a session on ‘The Significance of Social Work in Nagaland.’ Bokatoli Kinimi Z, Assistant Professor, NEISSR gave a comprehensive understanding of different settings in which social work is practiced. Dr Fr Robin Thomas and Dr Lily Sangpui provided orientation on the BSW curriculum, objectives and outcome. Jose V Abraham, District Coordinator, Dimapur, Peace Channel, introduced the students to the foundational structure and diverse activities of the Peace Channel. Ashela Teresa, Project Coordinator of Peace Channel emphasised on the importance of peer mediation in resolving conflicts and fostering a harmonious community. Fr Sebastian, Mentor at NEISSR, led a session on AI tools and highlighted about Meta AI, ChatGPT, Cloud AI, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Turnitin. Dr Fr Robin Thomas, Assistant Professor at NEISSR also conducted a session on college culture.

 

 

The District Sericulture office, Kohima conducted a spinning training on Eri silk and also distributed spinning machine to beneficiaries under Integrated Eri and Muga Scheme, NEC 2023-24 at Sericulture Farm Tsiesema, Kohima on July 11. Altogether 50 beneficiaries attended the training. During the training, keynote address was given by Vikehielie Pienyii, Joint Director, Sericulture Department and Alemkumzuk, Deputy Director, Sericulture Department. A hand on training was given by the Master trainers.
