Along with the rest of the country, the nursing fraternity of Nagaland today observed International Nurses Day under the theme, “Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health.”
In the state capital Kohima, the Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Local Branch Kohima observed the day at the Chapel Hall of Naga Hospital Authority Kohima.
International Nurses Day is observed worldwide on May 12 annually to honour the selfless contribution of the nursing fraternity in health care. This significant day commemorates Florence Nightingale's birth anniversary, known as the founder of modern nursing.
Speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour, NHAK managing director Dr Vibeituonuo Mepfhuo lauded the nursing fraternity for providing quality nursing care. She challenged them to continue to exercise an efficient service to the people.
Also speaking on the occasion as theme speaker, Dr Sentinaro Ao, Deputy Director (Nursing), Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland called upon the nursing fraternity to update the nursing education and skills to deliver better service to the people.
Earlier, L Abenla Jamir (Retd) Joint Director Health & Family Welfare lit the lamp.The programme was chaired by Lichumla, secretary TNAI Local Branch Kohima while Pezalhouwheno, president TNAI Local Branch Kohima delivered welcome address. Vote of thanks was proposed by Vitoli, vice president TNAI Local Branch Kohima.
